McDaniels as head coach is a horrible idea. The guy is immature and that is NOT a quality one wants in a head coach. He's a train wreck as HC.
You speak about him like you know him personally. Just stop.

My issue with trading for Jimmy isn't really about the value of the picks you give for him. It's because I believe there are QBs with more talent than him in the draft and we're finally in a position to get one of them. And I don't want to waste that chance.
If you were just to say Jimmy G was available in the draft, I'd bet you 9 out of 10 nfl scouts would say he's the top QB. So, essentially, if you traded the #3 pick for him you'd be getting the best QB available. If you got him for the 2nd round pick, you'd be getting a steal. While most here like to say trading for him is too risky and too costly, he's actually the least risky and the cost of obtaining him no greater than taking any other QB in the draft.

since we are dreaming, im hoping the bears are simply waiting for the falcons post season to be over before suddenly firing fox and swooping in to hire shanahan.

Shanny is a fan of Cutler though.

McDaniels will want GM title as well. The dude drafted Tebow in the first round. No thanks.

We'd have too trade the pick and pay him a huge salary to hope he is the answer. If he busts with us we gave our pick away and will have invested 75 million in him. That is something to consider. I think we get him if we want him.

I'd probably trade for Garappolo, sign McCarron, and draft Mahomes.

It'd be perfect: Garappolo would be there on passing downs, McCarron would be for the running downs, and then Mahomes would be a QB sneak specialist.

Sign Romo. Back-up Barkley (Higher upsides than Hoyer who will never have velocity). Draft Kaaya or Webb at a trade up to 55-62 area. Or draft Russell/Mayfield/Kelly in the 4th if interviews sway you.

PS Shaw.

If Romo chose to come here (after being released/not for trade) I would swing that bat. Why not? What do we have to lose? We have to gain that he might be damn good and able to disguise flaws and throw for 4 TD's even to the likes of Jeffery/Merideth/White. Or even turn those guys into a suddenly frightening force.

I belive in thouroughly searching for a QB, but I prefer those QB's over the earlier projected ones.

So you'd advocate spinning their wheels rather than actually addressing the position? Romo is one hit away from being poster boy for early retirement, and even if he remains healthy will never be around long enough to get this team into contention. So you bring him in for what? Mask flaws for a few more years in order to climb into the "middling" range? I'd rather actually get a QB with a future and suck for a bit longer while he develops; thus accumulating better talent through higher draft picks than praying for the rare mid-round miracle QB and Romo.

I will choose door B, the one where Pace finds his own franchise QB this draft. And if John Fox can't live up next year bring back Jimmy, Harbaugh that is.

we can only hope that one day we won't have to hear about a injured N.E. backup with 1 1/2 games of NFL exp

He's the highest profile because he's been in NWE and is trade bait. That doesn't make him the best. I think if you look purely at skill sets and ability, Jimmy is at absolute best the 4th best QB if he were in this draft, and I rank him that high because of how much Mahomes, who also has more natural talent, needs to have his game reworked.

Physical talent is the only thing the top 3 have over Jimmy. Then, there is everything else that makes good QB. Poise, sound mechanics, going through progressions and throwing with anticipation, ball placement and accuracy. Reminder, Jimmy has the quickest release since Marino. If not it's close.

Jimmy trumps all QB prospects in the most important categories.

im sure there was clowns in New England that said the same thing about BB when he was hired as head coach because he failed as HC his first time..

it was over 10 years ago when McDaniels was a head coach. yes 10 years ago he was a bit immature.. you dont think 10 years of expereance makes a differance?

I think the only way this works if if they get here together. Even if Jimmy is the next Brady, how much damage could be done to the guy with Loggains.

I was just watching DP show and Scott Zolak (Pats announcer) is hearing the Pats will be asking for a 1 and 2 and expects several teams to battle for him. Take that with a grain of salt but there is 0 chance I pay that for a guy with 4 starts. That will be a Rick Mirer catastrophe all over again.
