Once again, I cannot recommend a subscription to The Athletic highly enough. Today, they posted an article that includes some video breakdowns that detail why the Hawks have struggled to maintain the possession metrics that they've done in the past.

I believe the article (linked above) is behind a paywall, so I won't be posting it here, but there are a few videos in that link which I can share in here that detail some of the issues. The biggest thing is poor positioning, apparently.

First video is from the Hawks/Sharks game a week ago.

I never played organized hockey as a kid, so it's nowhere near my forte. But I found it incredibly interesting. Gives me something to keep an eye on in the next game.

Now as far as what this whole thing is supposed to look like, here's a video they posted of the Maple Leafs' forecheck. Not so surprising to see a Babcock-coached team handling the fundamentals this well.

Great videos Dmelt. I love stuff like that. Sometimes it's easy to miss things when the TV camera angle miss some of a play or don't show enough ice.
