Pitchers and Catchers report Feb 14
Players report Feb 17

Hope they have as much fun as last year ST

Roster pretty much set, so shouldn't be any surprises here like Dexter Fowler popping up

Basically get everyone their ABs and pitches in without injuries

Heyward new approach at plate will be interesting to watch

What I wouldn't mind seeing is Almora leading off and seeing how it goes for him there, and at very least he'll get extra ABs and see more pitches to get ready

If Lester has to work with someone new, it might as well be the new primary catcher rather than the aging backup catcher or the questionably kneed wanna be 3rd string catcher.

I got tix for my wife and myself on Mar 22 at the Red's stadium. Tix were running $100 less than the same seats at Slone Park on StubHub.

Lester already said that he needs to work with Wilson last year. It was mostly Joe that was keeping Jon with David. This was expected having 2 long term control players working together. Add to it having a athletic catcher should help with Jon's issues tossing to 1B.

Sahadev on limited range podcast said he had a scout tell him that he thought Schwarber's bat is good enough he might have .300/.400/.600 potential.... which....wow.

It is not like that has not been done before but he would be getting into Cabrera numbers then.

I can't seem to follow that logic.

About a athletic catcher?

Wilson has one of the best snap throws in baseball. Jon has a fast delivery to the plate. Add to it you are dealing with Baez who tags with the best.

So in reality all Wilson needs to do is call pitch outs if the runner is getting happy feet.

I mean true but consider since 2005 there's only been 31 seasons in which it happened. They break down as follows for players with .290+/.390+/.590+...

Chipper Jones(2007)
David Ortiz(2005, 07, 16)
Lance Berkman(2006)
Derrek Lee(2005)
Prince Fielder(2009)
Daniel Murphy(2016)
Joey Votto(2010)
Ryan Braun(2011-12)
Magglio Ordonez(2007)
Manny Ramirez(2006, 2008)
Jose Bautista(2011)
Josh Hamilton(2010)
Matt Holiday(2007)
Miguel Cabrera(2010, 12-13)
Travis Hafner(2005-06)
A-Rod(2005, 2007)
Albert Pujols(2005-06, 08-10
Bryce Harper(2015)

If we narrow that even less of the steroid era to say since 2010, you're only talking about 12 season 2 of which were Ryan Braun who we know used PEDs. Other 10 are Harper, Hamilton, Bautista, Cabrera(x3), Pujols, Votto, Murphy and Oritz. The worst season in terms of fWAR was Ortiz and he didn't play the field obviously at 4.4 fWAR. Murphy was at 5.5 and everyone else was worth over 6 fWAR.

Did TRavis Hafner ever get on the radar for HGH? I had to double check that name to see his numbers and don't remember that ever happening but it sure did!

Not sure but I specifically cut the list where i did because if you go back to 2000 it gets fucking insane. There were IIRC 82 guys since 2000 and you see names like Richard Hildago for crying out loud.

I'm pretty sure D. Lee was in 2005 then got injured when the scare happened. Then he had a few sub 30 HR seasons then his budging disc in the neck issue caused him to come out with another MVP type of year? Sounds like a juice to get past the injury to me. Next year he went back to his lower playing levels.

A-Ram I believe was legit. Lee was a juicer with his up and down production. Sosa ran with a needle sticking out of his butt.

Shorter to the ball. His swing was super long last year. I heard its going back to his 2012 mechanics.

all he really had to do is quiet the hands and the swing was going to look better.
