Was thinking about how much I miss living by an ocean and all the good fish that taste kind of bad because it needs to be delivered from thousands of miles away. And of course, freshwater fish here is fantastic, so it's a funny trade off. Not everything stays fresh on ice for long, even delivered by plane you can taste the difference. Farm raised saltwater fish can also taste noticeably different than wild trawled.

And yes, I know the debate on distinguishing seafood from freshwater food is long past. That's why I just call it "ocean fish" for lack of better words. Things were a little easier when sea meant marine, but for whatever reason.... anyways that's getting off topic and into a debate.

What's your favorite ocean fish (to eat of course, this is the damn food and drink forum)?

I've been craving some fresh yellow rockfish and mahi mahi for months now! Even sashimi seabass, so amazing. Briquet smoked chub, since smoking cures and preserves a meat this should be easy to buy anywhere, but since it's not popular here, the only mackerel sold is steam smoked, which is a little bony to enjoy.

Fresh mahi mahi and red snapper here. Sea trout is pretty good when fresh caught.

Some of my favorite foods are shellfish. I love shrimp, and of course lobster and crab. Of course, my fiance is allergic to shellfish, so I haven't been able to eat any of that in quite some time.

Salmon, orange roughy, flounder, and grouper.

Tuna sashimi, amazing.

Of course I am pretty open for any good sushi.

I have not tried Mahi Mahi but apparently it is amazing as well.

Easy, sword fish. Followed by a nice big tuna steak.
