What games were you watching? Bennett almost never went down at first contact. His considerable ability to shed would be tacklers was his only good quality imo. And he was an asshat.

I watch every game, and that fucker always went down upon first contact 90% of the time and couldn't catch shit his last year here...he gave up,so fuck him

He looks considerably slower than 4.75 on the footage I have seen. Bennett has the basketball player pedigree, more speed/quickness, and a bit more length.

Bennett had a bad year with us, where he was disgruntled, and asked to be the #1 weapon. When asked to catch 10 balls per game it turned out he would get gassed easily. He gave up in some games we leaned on him for sure, but we were asking him to carry the team. He is a star in his role, if you keep him in it.

Sims can be the same, just a bit slower it looks like at 275. Maybe he ran 4.75 at 240. but White needs to step up, Howard needs to be healthy, and fuck what am I saying...we need a QB.

You're really bad at evaluating what you are watching. Bennett dropped 2 passes in 2015 and almost never went down on the first contact

he completely gave up on the team, don't sugar coat it...he sucked

And your nuts for saying he only dropped 2 passes all year, there were games where he dropped multiple passes

It's not me saying he dropped only 2 passes. It's his factual stat. Try again.

It's laughable they have him listed at only 2 drops, the Washington game alone he had 4 that cost us the win.I get you like Bennett and that's fine but he sucked ass bad his last year here and I'm glad he is gone.

He's had 1 good season in 9 and that was basically a half season stretch. I seriously doubt many DCs account for him. He's rarely available as it is.

What? Miller has played 5 seasons, and had 1 season where he played only 4 games. Miller has had a couple pretty good seasons with the Bears. Sims will become the #1 TE in run downs, and Miller will be the #2 TE in two TE sets and passing downs. They should be a pretty good TE tandem for the Bears, especially with some added speed on the outside.

I'm sorry, but that screams of mediocrity for a TE. He's averaged a whopping 25 catches per season over the last 5 years he's played. A total of 126 receptions in 8 seasons in the league.

His career has been nothing special. His play is nothing special. He's a good receiver but nowhere near the talent level a DC would ever have to worry about. He's had a very mediocre career overall and he's rarely healthy. He's a decent #2 though.

That is true. In addition, Bennett got hurt mid season.

Well, I'm not trying to suggest he's the next Gronk either, but as I did suggest, he had some nice plays with the Bears in the last two seasons as the main TE. He does score TD's. As the 2nd TE in passing situations, he can be a tough target for teams to cover. And with Sims taking most of the run blocking off his plate, he can hopefully remain healthier.

This is why I like the signing of Sims a lot, because I think they compliment each other very well. With the Bears pounding the rock with Howard, and adding some speed on the outside this year as I said, our TE's surely can be a tough matchup with teams over the middle this year. I also like Glennons height to be able to see the middle over the OL/DL's as well.

I also think Sims will be a great option for Glennon on passing downs. He can chip block and release for an outlet for Glennon very well. And he will be hard for S's and CB's to bring down out there. And while he draws that coverage, Miller can be flying deep down the middle on 2 TE sets. And with our young TE Brown, I think our TE position has become a strength again, especially with Howard running the ball.

Lastly, he was drafted in 2009 by the Jags. Why do you keep saying he's played 8 seasons?

Every player gets hurt,I don't remember recalling him sitting out much.Does anybody remember the skins game, like I said said Atleast 4 drops that game which in turn cost the Bears that game.Im not saying he is not a good player, just stating he usually went down first contact and he wasn't into it,he was a pouty mother fucker in my book...always bitching about something

I don't remember Bennett going down easily. I thought he was pretty tough to take down. I'd bet he had way more then 2 drops. Maybe in one game? I remember being pissed as hell at his drops that season.

Bennett used to make a bunch of people miss. The first tackler rarely got him down. He was great underneath.

Not sure where you're getting 240 from -- both the league and the team have him listed at 271.

It is? You mean in the sense that if he doesn't work out they can cut him next season for virtually nothing? Sure, the base salary is really high, but there's still zero risk.

There are those who think they understand contracts, and those that really do.

Bennett going down easy is a joke. Say what you want about his attitude (personally I can't stand the guy) but he never went down easy. In fact I very rarely if ever remember the first tackler taking him down. He routinely turned dump offs into 10-15 yard gains because of this.

My real issue with Bennett was that he rarely made the contested catch. We would throw deep down the seam and if he had a man step for step with him he almost always dropped it. On the plus side he did draw a lot of interference calls during those plays though.

For the Plebs who think the bears "over paid for a blocking TE" clan.

This isn't a Matt Speath signing.
