So, tell me, a ball sticks in the pitcher's hand in the second game, and sticks to the chest protector in the third game.

Are we supposed to just forget this, and act like nothing happened?

I'm no Bill Nye, but I am pretty sure a ball can't stick to a chest protector and defy gravity unless at least one of the two has a foreign substance on it.

I mean, not that the Cardinals would break rules.....naaaahhhh

I think MLB changed some rules with allowing pitchers to use stuff to better grip the ball. I don't have issue with that as it's largely a safety thing for batters. It's a bit different if they are altering the ball to make it move more though.
