Shit like this post is why I've always felt the mods here were soft else playing favorites killed discussion.
A stronger moderating hand would allow for a football forum to, ya know, talk football (a novel concept!), instead of playing grab ass with their forum buddies and letting shit get out of control, which leads to trolls like this gunking up the forums.
I understand there's some decent football minds here who also chafe when it comes to "playing nice", but frankly, we're staring at the result of that laxness in this thread. Slippery slope and all (and I'm not saying I also haven't contributed to the issue)...
If there was a mod crackdown, I'd rather talk football and see the board cleaned up than take my cheap shots and whine about not getting to carry on like an asshat.

Sadly, most of them are either shit or underpopulated. While Reddit sucks, https://www.reddit.com/r/CHIBears/ can be ok when they aren't going full Cutler cult (they are slowly weaning themselves).
Otherwise, there is no active, vibrant Chicago Bears community dedicated to talking football. The closest that ever came was the couple times when the mods locked down the old Chicago Bears forums a couple of times (usually following Mod misconduct and letting inmates run the asylum) - for a few months, the discussion was absolute perfection. Some people whined about the rules being strictly enforced, but actual football got discussed there instead of every other thread being a troll thread or a thread intentionally derailed by trolls.
Of course, after a while, the mods loosened the rules and it went back to being a pile of horse shit.
Just imagine every thread or every other thread being trolled by Norcal and no one doing shit about it. Eventually, after a couple of tries at respectability, they shut it down. Of course because they let the trolls get out of hand, what also brought down the original Bears board is the trolls got so bold they started spamming porn pics.
Just became a hot mess.

Hi, thanks for offering your thoughts. I feel compelled to defend myself. I have only ever discussed Chicago Bears football. I have never insulted or disrespected anyone despite being insulted and disrespected constantly. I wasn't aware expressing an unpopular opinion was considered "trolling". Thankfully I was blessed with an unwavering and resilient spirit making me immune to personal attacks. I respect you and your convictions. Thanks for being an integral part of this community.
