I don't normally call shots but the cubs had a day off.... it's the cards... I think Schwarber has a good game tonight.
Should of picked Contreras[emoji6]

Heyward most likely goes to CF with Almora on the bench.

They would be a dumb move...

Jay going out should give Almora an opportunity to see what he can do everyday..

Butler with 4 k's thru 4 innings. Pretty positive sign given our worries about K rate issues. If he perks back up to the ~8 k/9 he had in the minors he could be quite the find.

So I've always liked Fowler and I'm not trying to bury him but it's interesting to me he's hitting .231/.311/.426 and Jay(.299/.405/.373) and Almora(.273/.333/.403) have pretty roundly hit better especially given that was the worry coming into the year.

Also 6 innings from Butler... only 2 hits both to Diaz, 3 walks 5 K's? I'll take that. I imagine he's done at 94 pitches.

Also fwiw, butler's strike ratio was pretty similar to the game Hendricks had the other night. Hendricks had 58 strikes in 92 pitches. Butler was at 56 in 94. Good sign considering his time in the majors previously was hurt by walk rate.

Who needs Bryant when you got LaStella..
Double and homer
Not bad for a guy who probably wouldn't of picked up a bat tonight

Makes you wonder why some teams try to change guys so much. That appeared to be the issue with Arrieta and Butler.

I understand its the money..

But I never understood why guys who had ok career, would spend a couple yrs with a team and leave them after having best seasons with them..
Most cases they struggle afterwards

I don't recall but I wonder if cubs made an offer to Fowler or did they just flat out pass on him , with the idea of getting Almora in more games..

Heard cubs have hit something like 14 solo shots of their last 17 homers..

Crazy to think for a team who seems to get a lot of guys on base..

Hopefully after seeing what Butler did , it will start a ripple effect with the other starters to match him..

Lester Hendricks and Lackey can repeat their last good start and Arrieta will get in the zone...
