I dont get the Davis crap either, they believe once you get him up you have to use him. Yeah, I understand you really should use him after he warms up the first time, not sit him and have him warm up a second dime, but 5 run lead.

Makes me think about Lester throwing 250 pitches in the bullpen during game 7.

Closers need frequent work. Had they not used him with the 5 run lead, they risk the same performance in a game with a 1 run lead. This is very common in MLB. Why is this so puzzling? The question has already been answered in this thread.

Rizzo 4 leadoff games..
HR..HR..BB..SINGLE

Get the guys behind him going and they might have something special here..

Their sticking with Happs most every game despite the struggles..

Starting to make me think they plan on him playing everyday next year over Almora, who seems to be the 3rd wheel in this rotation, despite playing well

Yep.. til this team can actually put together 10 or more solid games together , their nothing more then a mediocre. 500 team to me this year...

Lackey going tomorrow against Tailon, their lucky they won yesterday and not looking to be swept by the lowly Pirates..

There's your boy.

Emptiest .300 batting average in MLB, year after year. (Actually, more likely to be "emptiest .270-.275 batting average).

Man on 3rd, 3-0....can't get him in.

Next time he bats with bases empty and 2 outs, though, he's the man! Single guaranteed.

No power. No D. No speed. No clue. One-tool player.

Those numbers look pretty clutch to me.........

It's everyone else that the problem this year....

I'm to the point where now I'm ready to just accept this team for what they are..
A mediocre .500 club ..

I'll just be happy for 2016 and just wait and see what they do if anything to improve themselves for 2018 next month and ride out the season...

Jake pretty much sucked.

The breakdown is this:

Rizzo is rocking at the top but there is a gap behind him right now.

Bryant has produced far better as a 2 hitter. But with Rizzo batting 1 Maddon was forced to drop Bryant to keep a RBI guy in the middle.

Montero is a horrible clean up.

Happ has been a mixed bag.

This is what I would do for a few games:

Rizzo 1B
Bryant: 3B
Heyward RF
Conteras C
Schwarber LF
Russell SS
Almora/Jay CF (depends on match up)
Pitcher
Happ 2B If he is struggling play Baez.

But it really comes down to the starter. Jake sucked...ya he hit a HR but he is not paid to hit.

No Schwarber, Russell or Bryant..

Let's hope these guys can produce at least 5 runs today ..
Most likely what it going to take with Lackey on mound..

A 9th inning rally most likely kept them from getting swept from the lowly Pirates..

4 5 6 hitters combine for 10 Hrs 43 RBI

Does anybody feel safe with a 3-0 lead with Lackey on the mound?

Don't even feel safe with a 10 run lead with him...

Pirates keep getting baserunners, waiting for someone to knock one out
