Anyone still think this team going to be any better then a mediocre .500 team?

I got some crap a couple weeks ago when I said without major changes to rotation, etc.. their no better then 80-84 wins..

10-14 last 24 games..
40-41 at halfway mark..

Be shock if they win 45+ games in final 81 without major changes to rotation

Cubs about to be on 3rd place 3 games out...

Yes, the Cardinals that totally suck could move ahead of them with a win

What I'm taking out of today is Jay, Bryant, Rizzo, Contreras, Happ should be the 1-5 every day. The rest can jumble. When Heyward returns it goes 1-6 every day.

Now I prefer Russell and Almora every day myself for their D in prime spots.

But the rest should just be used for that. Rest the starters.

Sucks they lost to Cincy. Schwarber had another good night. they resumed a previous game and he drew 2 walks in 2 PAs. Second game of the day in a 7 inning game he went 2 for 2 with 2 HRs. Also got hit by a pitch. That's 4 HR's in 2 days. While his issues weren't really HRs at the MLB level this year I feel like that's a pretty good sign he's seeing the ball well. Seems like the cubs really need him to come back and be the offensive force he can be. Hopefully him Rizzo and Bryant can carry the team til some others are healthy/hitting.

I still believe it was the strategy MLB teams were using that was beating him. Pitch him into the shift. With out that approach he went back to his normal production

This is one of the many reasons the front office loves Schwarber I suspect.

I'm starting to think Ian Happ might have a career in baseball.

Why I think one of Schwarber Baez or Russell will be traded for a SP ..
Happ will have to settle in at either 2B or LF

I'm not the most unbiased guy but I think it may be Baez during the offseason.

If it is for Archer and they were going to deal from the roster.

Baez makes sense. Holds solid value and is blocking playing time from Happ.

All they have to do is sign a glove first UI at that point.

Baez should be starting and his highest value is SS not 3B or 2B.

He also has the most upside if you get to his peak.
