I don't buy it. He's still a short term asset under control only through next year and the cost appears high. If they do this it means they think that Edwards will never be a closer, which I suppose they might. I have been, and still am, of the belief that they do think he's the future closer though so I'm not buying this just yet.

He is going to cost too much. Cubs don't have the leverage with out weaking themselves.

Last year it made sense to upgrade Rondon to Chapman. It doesn't make near the sense to slot Britton in nor does it make sense considering the risk of missing the playoffs.
