Those are facts, Gus. He is cheap and is now trying to duplicate what the Cubs did. Problem is that Sox fans will not fill up his ball park with fannies in his seats like the Cubs have. Go ahead and watch some 2A and 3A "prospects" masquerade as major league players. They will have the uniforms of major league players but if and when they actually produce, Reinny will trade them away. Abreau is as good as gone and Garcia shortly afterward.

Those are opinions, Hawk. These are facts: attendance is up in 2017, including 58,000+ for the two games against Cleveland last weekend.

The more I see Davidson, the more I like him. Best deadline move was getting Frazier out of town to see if this kid can grab a hold of the third base job.

Not gonna lie, since they finally started pushing a real rebuild I tune in more just to see how the young guys are playing.

I know they won't win, but at this point it is fun to see what kind of potential the prospects have.

If I have to watch a losing team, I would much prefer it be a young team working thru a rebuild than an older team that is simply struggling to approach .500

Yeah, those are opinions. As for attendance being "up" in 2017, it is "up" just a smidgeon and one of the lowest attendances in all of baseball. As for the Cleveland games, I would bet that a whole lot of the attendees in those games came up to Chicago for a vacation from Cleveland.

Lowest attendance in the AL next to Tampa Bay. Yeah, they are really packing them in, eh? Half of the attendance of the Dodgers and Cardinals.

Actually, Oakland is also an AL team and the Sox are ahead of them. If you also take a look at those numbers (which are off by a day), the Sox have actually played 3 less home games than the Rays, and they've also played 7 less home games than Oakland. Despite those differences, they are still out drawing both teams.

You do know that this is a two sided coin that either way it comes up...you lose. Say you are right....Hahn doesn't know talent for shit and the rebuild is a bomb. Hey, the Hawk was right. Damn, we were wrong...he did know what he was talking about...but now, your favorite baseball team is in disarray for the next decade. Other side of the coin, you're wrong. Hahn builds a fantastic young and exciting team that contends for years....your team is great but you end looking like a complete boob.

This is not to suggest attendance is great, but I've yet to see the MLB award a championship based on home attendance. So, really, it's a silly argument to have.

A couple other things:

* Texas has the highest payroll in MLB and they are 6 games under .500
* Kansas City, who is middle of the road in payroll, are your current second AL wild card right now.
* Colorado and Arizona are bottom half in terms of payroll, and they are your current NL wild card teams.
* San Francisco has the 5th highest payroll in the league, and they have the second worst record in the league.

So this idea that just throwing money at this team doesn't necessarily correlate to winning. So The Hawk's complaining about payroll cutting doesn't really wash.

Who cares, Gus? Who cares IF the Sox are outdrawing the A's and Rays by a little bit. The point is that the Sox have not drawn for shit and will not draw for shit while it is so fucking bad. Do you disagree with that?

I am telling you, Vegas is out there and Reinny is just looking for any excuse to move the team. And he is BUILDING an excuse and that is to move the Sox because of bad attendance.

Now then, you and others can love Reinny and McCaskey all that you want to. That is your own perogative. Doesn't matter to me one bit that you are wrong:)

Baseball is coming to Las Vegas. It is going to happen and the White Sox are a prime candidate to move. The worst thing to happen for Sox fans is the Cubs winning the World Series and now Reinny is stripping the team bare. I'm telling you, this could very well happen and the reason is Reinny.

Three Teams The MLB Could Send To Las Vegas

Las Vegas is a place that you associate with sports for all the wrong reasons. As the gambling capital of America, you know Vegas as the place where people go to legally put money on sports, horse races, and casino games. Pete Rose’s dream come true. It’s a place where sporting events are watched on a big screen inside of a sports book, not in person. But that is about to change.

With the recent acquisition of the Oakland Raiders, Las Vegas is in the market for more professional sports franchises. Next on their list is an MLB team. According to the Boston Globe’s Nick Cafardo, Las Vegas wants an MLB team and commissioner Rob Manfred is not opposed to the idea. He has previously expressed interest in Las Vegas as a potential landing place for an MLB team in the future.

I am not a fan of the relocation of teams. I miss the Montreal Expos. When the Expos got moved to Washington D.C and were renamed the Washington Nationals I didn’t understand what was happening, but I was not happy with it. This past NFL season I hated to see “LA” on the scoreboard instead of “STL”. No part of me has any connection to St. Louis or the Rams, but it bothered me nonetheless. I feel for those fans who have lost their home teams to the business side of professional sports, and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.

While I don’t expect it to happen immediately, I would not be surprised if a team was relocated to Las Vegas in the future. Casino magnates would be happy to fund the building of an MLB stadium in Vegas because it would bring more business to them. The stadium would effectively pay for itself. As for what team would be relocated, your guess is as good as mine. Here are my top three candidates for a future relocation to Las Vegas and five potential names for Las Vegas teams.

Tampa Bay Rays – The Rays don’t have a lot going for them. Since entering the AL East in 1998, the Rays have only won the division two times (2008, 2010). Their most recent playoff appearance was in 2013, hen they lost in the ALDS. From a business standpoint, the Rays are a nightmare. They have recorded the lowest average attendance in the MLB every year since 2011. From that point until now, they have sold an average of 17,408 tickets per game. That’s abysmal. It honestly upsets me when I see a game at the Trop and the seats are EMPTY.

114

Not only the bleachers but the seats directly behind home plate. It’s a sad sight to see. Finally, a piece of Major League Baseball died when Tampa Bay dropped the word “Devil” from their name in 2007. What better opportunity to reintroduce that word than moving to Sin City? The Las Vegas Devil Rays. Has a nice ring to it.

Chicago White Sox – RIP to the White Sox. For over 100 years, the Chicago Cubs were cursed and were unable to win a World Series. The White Sox could always find solace in knowing that their cross-city counterpart would not become a dominant force. That changed last season. The Cubs quickly became the best team in baseball, breaking their 108-year-old World Series drought and establishing themselves as the one true king of Chicago. The Cubs have tons of young talent and they’re not going anywhere for a while. Like the Rays, the White Sox also have trouble filling their stadium. They sell have sold an average of around 22,000 tickets per game for the past few years which has put them close to the bottom of the attendance list every season. Without their former ace Chris Sale to bring in fans, the White Sox are in a bad place.

Minnesota Twins – The Twins have been middling for the past decade. They are always the team that I forget about when thinking of teams and players because they just don’t stand out at all. Their average attendance has been around 25,000 per game in recent history, and I don’t expect that number to jump at any time soon. Having to compete with the Cleveland Indians in the AL Central is not doing them any favors, and I can’t picture them becoming the team to beat. They have some talent in outfielder Byron Buxton, infielder Brian Dozier, and seasoned veteran Joe Mauer among others, but they lack a star player and have holes in their lineup. I was drawn to the Twins back when they had Johan Santana and Francisco Liriano. Since then, however, they’ve been very forgettable. A move to Las Vegas may be fitting for the Twins.

It's not a question of IF they are outdrawing the A's and Ray's. They are, currently, outdrawing both of those teams. That is a fact. It is also a fact that, as it stands, this is the highest attendance the team has had since 2012. These are facts that you are no able to dispute.

Again, as I've stated before: Reinsdorf is 81 years old. To build a stadium that is up to MLB standards would take at least two years. To receive funding for that stadium to even begin might take a year. This is to say nothing of the fact that MLB would have to allow for the team to move. At 81 years old, do you really think he's looking for a minimum of two years to get something like that done? Do you really?

Besides that, the last team in the MLB to move was Montreal to Washington in 2005. Before that, it was the Senators moving from DC to Arlington. In 1972.

Beyond even that, you've given absolutely no indication that this could/would actually happen. Do you have any proof, or anything that indicates Jerry wants to move the team to Vegas?
So what? If I am wrong, I am wrong. It has happened before and it will happen once again. I, though, have an opinion and it is my opinion that Jerry Reinsdorf is a terrible team owner and bad for Chicago fans. I fell the same way about the idiot McCaskey family. Now then, you and others can love Reinny and McCaskey all that you want to. That is your own perogative. Doesn't matter to me one bit that you are wrong:)
Nobody has ever suggested, once, that Reinsdorf is some model owner. I will suggest, however, that your blind hatred of Reinsdorf is not allowing you to see what is actually going on with the White Sox.
Hilarious. Terrible attendance in 2017 and will be worse in 2018. Guaranteed:(
Again, nobody has suggested that attendance this year has been great. What has been suggested is that it is higher at this point than it was last year, and has been the highest since 2012. How you seem to not understand this undisputed fact is beyond me.
Tell me this when Reinny says it is the reason why he is going to move the team:(
Again, if you can provide any shred of evidence that he is planning on moving the team at 81 years old, please provide such evidence.

Tell me this when Reinny says it is the reason why he is going to move the team:(

Here's a fun fact for you to ponder:

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-sox-cell-funding-isfa-met-20160521-story.html

"The construction and operations of the ballpark were very creatively funded by relying primarily on tax revenues from visitors to the city of Chicago rather than its residents, and every hot dog and soda sold at a Sox game benefits the city, county and state of Illinois," he said. "Like any long-term contractual agreement, all parties have shown a willingness to compromise, adjust and work together for our mutual success."

Under the deal, the Sox didn't have to pay a fee for use of the stadium until 2008. In 2015, that fee amounted to about $1.6 million.

The Sox also must pay a fee on each ticket sold in excess of 1.93 million in paid attendance. Since 2008, the Sox have paid that fee only in 2010, when games drew 2.2 million fans. However, the Sox were allowed to apply a credit based on the taxes the team paid that year, reducing the ticket fee payment from $455,974 to $95,531

In case anyone (THE HAWK) is wondering what the bold says, it says the Sox are better off financially with low attendance.

To review:

The Hawk said:
I am telling you, Vegas is out there and Reinny is just looking for any excuse to move the team. And he is BUILDING an excuse and that is to move the Sox because of bad attendance.
You think an 81 year old owner, that has to get approval from the MLB to move, despite the fact that it has happened only twice in 45 years, despite the fact that they would not have an MLB ready stadium for at least two years, who would still have to get approval from Vegas to move there, who by the way recommends his family sells the team after he dies, who just signed a new 13 year deal with a corporate sponsor, and who gets tax breaks for having low attendance, is going to relocate the team based on what saves him money???

Wow. You've probably never been more wrong on something than anything else.
