But then, as he begins to open it, Roberto Alamar will sweep in and yank it out of his hand.

I love this. This man was so maligned for years and had to change his entire life when the Cubs players were the ones responsible for losing that series. It's a great gesture and I'm hopeful that Bartman can sincerely come back to Wrigley and enjoy games with his family.

It would take a vacation trip as I'm fairly certain he's not in the area anymore. I think he's in Arizona now. Probably driven out of Northbrook by dumb asses refusing to let it go.

I thought he was in Florida, but after the foul ball incident, IIRC, he had to go into hiding and did move out of state.

This is finally over.. so tell me, who is the responsible of the collapse?

1 Baker for leaving Prior in too long
2 Bartman
3 Gonzalez for the error on the easy DP

I blame..

Prior for not settling himself down after that foul ball..

Baker and Rothschild for not going to mound and settle things down after that play..

Marlins for taking advantage of situation and scoring all those runs

Gonzalez
Baker

Bartman carries zero responsibility

Bartman specifically is not at fault. But the "play" itself is partially at fault as it kinda ruined their mojo. Therefore, I would say Alou is partially to blame for making such a big stink of it. If it is just a harmless foul ball, maybe they don't press as much. Maybe Gonzalez makes the play. Maybe the Marlins don't start smashing the ball. Who knows.

Cool gesture by the Cubs and a cool gesture by Steve Bartman to accept it and put out a classy statement where he still has no desire to be any sort of celebrity from this.

it's so hard to believe that Bartman was ever as blamed as he was. I put myself in that category too. I was younger when it happened and just kinda went with the narrative for years. About 5 years ago or so I looked back full detail in to games 6 and 7 and realized the ridiculousness of it.

Did you see Scherzer last night? After throwing a pitch to the backstop, doing the cut the throat sign to the dugout, it almost looked like Baker was trying to talk him into staying in the game.

Except for the following sentence, the words "Bartman" and "fault" should never be put together in regards to that game.
