With a depleted pitching staff, the Cubs should win 2-3 if not a clean sweep. Then again..baseball.

You would think...

Cubs have an inconsistent offense and who knows what we'll see from Hendricks and Lackey......

Weather pretty much like yesterday..

Rain around game time and early evening...

saw the lineup and thought it was apropriate and revealing.

sans russell, it looks like a serious lineup inteneded to be the best possible given the years and skills of these players, and current hitting form.

If Russell was here, it would cause a Baez/Jay/Scwarber/Heyward decision.

I think it says the future of infield includes 2B Happ, and then a Baez vs Russell decision eventually. Baez could be the future utility guy, perhaps,

I don't think Happ is ever going to be good enough defensively to play 2B every day. I could be wrong though. I really think that you need defensive standouts at C, SS, 2B and CF in that order of importance.

I would put 2B last in that group, mainly because a CFer has more to deal with and tougher plays then a 2Bmen..

I disagree with Happ defensively at 2B..
He may not make a lot of flashy plays but he should handle all the routine ones ...

Sandberg wasn't flashy with huge range but he just handled everything hit his way...

Good thing their not facing Gonzales Scherzer or Strasburg and facing Rourke and his 4+ ERA..
Might be getting No Hit instead of just shut out..

This offense kills me with their inconsistency...

Damn..
Baez was hitting with a 2 n 2 count and no outs , I stepped away for like 30 seconds or so and a commercial was on..

We don't need pitching, we need the bats to be more consistent. That said if Houston doesn't deal for Verlander they're fucking stupid. They lose in the first round with the pitching they have now and they have the best offense for any team in 40 years.
