On paper the cards are a better team so them faltering is nice. They are +48 run diff vs MIL being +20. Cubs are +54 MIL is also 2 games ahead in games played compared to the cubs. STL is 1 game ahead in games played. If the cubs expand their lead to 5-7 games by the time they meet up again with the Cards I think they are done.

What I'm hoping is by Sept 1 they can have at least a 5 game lead over 2nd place...

Then they just need to avoid a bad losing streak the last month

Brewers played 127 games, they had 35 left with 66 wins.. most they could win 101 games....

Cubs had 67 wins, so it would take 35 wins for 102 wins..

Cubs have 3 against the Pirates.. sweep them and their history as they head into September..

Brewers and Cardinals start a 3 game set tomorrow..

Chance to add a couple games on one if these teams if they can take care of Pirates

You're off by 1, the magic number to clinch the division is 30.

"Take the number of games yet to be played, add one, then subtract the number of games ahead in the loss column of the standings from the closest opponent."
