Chicago Bulls
Starters: Derrick Rose (94), Michael Jordan (99), Scottie Pippen (96), Dennis Rodman (93), Artis Gilmore (93)

Reserves: Jimmy Butler (90), Jerry Sloan (89), Bob Love (88), Joakim Noah (87), Luol Deng (86), B.J. Armstrong (85), Toni Kukoc (85), Horace Grant (85), Charles Oakley (84), Steve Kerr (81)

WUT????
:obama:

So a former Bulls 8th man is suddenly ranked 81 and on the all-time list. What the fawk are they smoking in Novato, California?

Look, I'm sure everyone has their opinion on what the ratings are. Probably many disagree with me, but here is more how I would rate them based on their scale. My changes: Kerr (strictly based on peak time as a Bull) would be a 68, MAYBE 70 tops. Chet Walker would be 86, Elton Brand would be an 82, BJ an 81, Grant and 81, Rodman a 92, Gilmore would be a 94, Norm Van Lier would be an 82, Reggie Theus would be an 83, Boerwinkle an 80, Harper a 79, Deng an 85, Sloan a 91, Ben Gordon 80, Hinrich 80. Pip maybe a 97, but 96 is fair. Jordan should be 100 if this is pure peaks, but you know they did it like this to avoid backlash. Oakley was a knucklehead here, and I liked him a lot, but 84 as a Bull? No, he was more like an 81 here.

Yawn weve had almost all of those guys in the game for years.

I'd like to see the 06-07 roster just so we have something fresh.

Last 2K game I played beyond a few games at friends places was 2K13. I've been waiting for a basketball game that actually lets you play basketball. I'm just bored to death of the same mechanics and canned animations. I'll probably die before a legit game comes out. 2K has been repackaged on a modified form of the same engine since 2k7, which is kind of sad. People left EA because they would stretch the same game with tiny tweaks for years, then charge full game prices for essentially roster updates. And now 2K does the same shit but worse. They're lucky the competition is pretty much shit.

What truly does piss me off, kids play this, then rewrite history by saying shit in the game = real world. So eventually these kids will grow up and start saying shit like, isn't Steve Kerr in the Hall of Fame as a player? Wasn't he mega awesome and the starting PG on those Bulls championship teams?

steve kerr is just a name in the moment, his coaching is pushing his playing skill legend higher. fair? probably not, but it is what it is i guess.

2k and Madden should do the same thing. Release a game every 2 years and do an update in the summer in between.

If we're talking strictly giving a 2k rating for the best year of each of their primes, I'd go:

Jordan- 99
Pippen- 92
Gilmore- 90
Rose- 90
Butler- 89
Walker- 87
Noah- 84
Love- 84
Rodman- 84
Sloan- 83
Deng- 82
Theus- 82
Kukoc- 82
Grant- 82
Van Lier- 82
Jalen Rose- 81
Hinrich- 81
Brand- 81
Boozer- 80
Micky Johnson- 80
Armstrong- 80
Gordon- 80
Oakley- 80
Chandler- 78
Cartwright- 78
Gibson- 78
Harper- 78
Longley- 76
Kerr- 76
Randy Brown- 75

Gasol > Boozer (both), and Bob Boozer > Carlos

And why the fuck is everyone overrating Steve Kerr, the 8th man 3pt specialist? He was not that good.

Not from any single season, these are just his best year totals as a Bull.
15.2 PER
8.1 WS (0.208 WS/48)
8.2 PPG (13.2 PPG P/36)
2.6 APG
1.6 RPG
22.4 MPG
0.05 SPG
16 blocks in 378 games, which rounds out to 0.0 BPG

I have Sam Vincent as a 71, who is better than Kerr as a Bull. Sobers might be a 69 who was slightly better overall but I'd accept the 3PT argument to give Kerr the nudge above him. Jalen Rose wasn't on a good team but he's gotta be in the 73-76 range in a Bulls jersey. Nocioni 77 for his best season. Ron Artest had half a good season with the Bulls and it was really good. He's going to be above Steve Kerr for me. Anyone remember Holland? He played a style of ball before his time and I'd give him a 71.

My whole point is, those kids in Novato don't know shit about the Bulls. Steve Kerr doesn't belong anywhere on that list.

Agreed that Kerr doesn't belong on that team or anywhere on that list. Isn't the mean/median rating in 2k like a 75 though? I think if Kerr was given higher volume minutes, he would have been around an average or maybe even slightly above average NBA player. I mean, the guy was such an efficient scorer. And I'm sure his defense would be exposed a lot more in this current era, but he was a gritty enough on-ball defender in his time to not be a liability. 81 is insane though. I can also agree with Bob Boozer over Carlos and I myself would give Gasol about an 85 or 86.
