To be fair he wouldn't have played in April. He'd likely be in a similar place to Almora right now. He largely got early playing time once he was called up because Zobrist and Russell were hurt. Baez may have been too at the time but I forget. I don't think anyone I remember was all that negative on his potential just that it was more a case of where do you fit him in.

Which will also cost us a player on the roster. I hardly heard of the two that were DFA's but might know the next one.

I'd imagine Jack Leathersich would probably be the guy the cubs DFA. He's mildly interesting as a LH reliever but he's not really a sure thing and cubs might slip him through waivers.

He's been great but I still think he was called up earlier than they would have liked.

He was actually called up when Heyward went on DL with sprained finger and started in RF..

I was calling for him because Maddon wasn't playing LaStella who had just 7 AB til he started a game 2nd week of May..

My thinking was why not add him to roster and send LaStella down..
At least he would get more PT then LaStella because he a SH and Maddon could play him at 2B and all 3 OF spots..

Eventually that what happened later when everyone was healthy..
They kept Happ and sent LaStella down

Brewers are 3 hitting washington headed into the 9th. On the plus side it's only 1-0 so a solo shot could change things

Don't need to worry about anyone besides the team they're facing. Just win.

Say what you want about Lackey. Guy has been damned good for months.

He is competitive. His slider was on and that pitch is all that he has left. Fastball is upper 80's now.

He is not afraid of challenging hitters. But when he doesn't have a good slider his fastball goes into the stands

Lester on a pitch count today, guessing no more then 70-80..
Way it going so far for him in 1st inning, he probably don't go more then 4 innings..

Hope the bats are going today, looks like their gonna need a bunch of runs to win this one

I have never seen another pro athlete act like it is so difficult to put their body in motion than Mr Jon Lester.

Lester start today is why i hoped he had gone to Iowa and started a game there first before coming up..
Get the rust out

Now their gonna exhaust the pen having to need them to go 4 or 5 and its just a 1 run game..

Well. Many times Jon took a L he didn't deserve. Got one payback today.
