I thought they were going to let Zobrist play short, that Freeman was like a deer in the headlights yesterday

Considering how the rotations broke and the fact the Pirates simply outrighted one of their only good bullpen arms, anything less than 2 out of 3 will be highly disappointing with 2 out of 3 simply ok.

Really. Someone needs to tell Joe that not everyone Theo gives him can play major league baseball. I don't care if he can't cover more than 5 feet left or right, anyone that can pick up and throw a baseball and at least look like a ML hitter would be preferable to Freeman. I'd take my chances with Zobrist or even LaStella at SS.

Zobrist looks like a 50 year old catcher running the bases.

Way to kill the momentum.

Might be a cramp, but it sure looks like a hammy. Hammy....if they get to the post season, he might be available at some point. But since it's his plant leg, he may be done as a Cub. Just more visible proof why repeating is so damn hard.

He's just not good at anything besides striking out. Sick of watching him do nothing to help the team besides hitting HR's in blowouts.

Cubs built their team on hitting, the rest of the central focused on pitching.

Which I'm convinced is the best way to build a team. Stockpile pen arms, hope you get a gem of a starter in that bunch, spend money and not worry where the next TJ surgery is coming from. The Cardinals have a lot of young pitching that they will likely have to give some of that up for a bat if they want to compete next year, or spend a year rebuilding and wait until after 2018 and sign one of the multitude of hitters that will be available. The Brewers have taken a more a balanced approach and will probably compete for a few years. The Pirates have a lot of young pitching and young hitting and with a few moves will also compete but again that pitching has to be healthy. The Cubs are set for a long window. Ask the Mets or Braves how building with pitching is coming.
