Anything less than 3 with those matchups and the way the Mets is going to be a disappointment.

Miss deGrom, they're out their two best hitters, and relying on castoffs and sub replacment level talent.

I would agree that a sweep is needed, that said I sure hope the players aren't thinking that. It's a sure way to lose. You take one game at a time. At this point I just want to see them play like they can. If they do that they win all three.

Until or If Russell returns, I wouldn't mind seeing this line up regularly..

Need to get some consistency there

The defense up the middle is horrendous with Zobrist and Happ. Can't play too many games with that D. I get why you'd do it against the Mets but against Cards uh uh.

Without Russell you don't have much choice..

I'd prefer Happ 2B Almora CF but we all know Maddon won't play Almora regularly and we all know now that as we're getting close to playoff Maddon gonna get Zobrist in line up more...

So..

It either Zobrist at 2B and Schwarber in LF or Zobrist in LF Happ 2B..

Zobrist is playing

Social media night.

Does that mean all fans at the game will be looking at their phones?

I like this lineup, offensively. Zobrist at leadoff is not ideal, yet better then other options. But the rest looks good, and it seems Zobrist is due to add a little something.

Let's do this.

Agreed. Zobrist is a joke. His defense is a joke. He can't hit the broad side of a barn right now. Yet lets keep having him leadoff.

I guess that's why Maddon (boy wonder) gets paid the big bucks.

Last 30 games:

Almora: .308/.321/.404 vs fav match ups.
Happ: .294/.372/.647
Zobrist: .291/.360/.481

Some times let the data talk mkay

I'm a bit concerned with the D up the middle that said.

Happ: uzr/150 CF: 12.2
Almora: 1.6

So again let the data speak vs opinion. mkay

Here we go again:

UZR/150 at 2B
Zobrist 8.0
Baez 3.4
Happ -4.7
LaStella -22.5

Really hate it when opinion is law over fact. Feels like the ruling party talk.....

Think this is more a case of limited data as the 469 innings in OF total has Happ at 2.2 UZR/150. Almora in the OF in general has 811.1 innings with a 10.3 UZR/150. Defensive data in general is very hard to determine on short sample sizes. For example, Almora in 811.1 innings has only 172 data points. Happ in CF has 58 in 317.1 innings. It's also worth noting that Almora plays so sporadically that I imagine it's harder for him to get in a rhythm.

Long story short it's pretty obvious just watching them play Almora is a better defender. Whether or not Happ's bat is worth more with his more average-ish defense is an interesting debate worth having but just citing uzr/150 on short sample size doesn't really mean much. I think given the lack of offense of late you're fine going with Happ. Frankly think it's more a case do you want Almora Zobrist or Schwarber in the line up and you just move Happ to whomever you want to sit in LF 2B or CF.

LMAO @ Maddon

Another one of his genius moves there. Zobrist out by 5 country miles.
