It did but didn't affect the inning..

Ok he called it a ball but nothing happened because of it..

You got the pitcher up there 2 strikes 2 outs, come back and make another good pitch to get him..

NOT

Throw a meatball up in zone where he can handle it and line a single to center..

Using your logic no incorrect call would ever affect an inning

The ump screwed up and directly cost the cubs one run and
subsequently cost us 5.1 innings of bullpen usage

Last thing they need is Baez injury.

Esp after the genius inserted the only other ss on the roster ad a pinch runner in the 6th innnng with a runner in front of him on 2b.......didnt understand the move then and now it becomes even more ridiculous.

It was obviously the 3rd strike, for the final out.

Just because you are upset with Lackey for allowing the hit doesn't man it did not affect the inning. It was the difference between one run, or zero runs.

C'mon man. The pitch was as clear a strike as there is and it was called a ball resulting in the next pitch being hit for a single, scoring a run. It directly affected the course of the game. Directly.

Oh, and Lackey is a redass but I bet there isn't a pitcher in the game who wouldn't have been pissed and rattled after that and you expected him to throw a great pitch?

All good today (unless Javy is hurt).

But it would be nice to be able to wrap up a game without the closer when we lead by six. Leave Strop or Edwards in longer. But all in all....great start to this crucial series.

My point was, that terrible call only made Lackey have to throw another pitch...

He was facing the pitcher and had 2 strikes on him..
All he had to do was come back with another good pitch but instead he let the bad call affect him and ended throwing a hittable fastball ...

Lackey getting into the ump face barking got him tossed..

It was a bad call yes but it the 4th inning and 1 run.. suck it up and move on in a big game..

I never said it wasn't a bad call..

It was a rotten terrible disgusting call..

All I'm saying is after that bad call,
Lackey could of still gotten out of it if he just made a good pitch afterwards against a pitcher with 2 strikes on him.. lol

I was ok with him used to get out of 8th ..kill potential rally

But not the 9th..

I read some Tweets.. that it possible Maddon did it to stress him out for when he really is needed for 4 /5 outs
So .......

He threw a good pitch
It was strike three for the third out over the middle of the plate thiigh high
It was called a ball

Where should he have thrown the next pitch?

No reason to debate him. He expects every player to be perfect every day. No one can go 0-4 or have a bad pitch.

The article on ESPN said that Lackey got ejected as he backed up home plate on the single. I have never heard of a player getting ejected DURING a play.

Huh????

What is up with you people on here..lol

Doesn't anyone really read what written?

I never said anything about the strike called ball..lol

Again

Yes it was a horrible call lol

I only pointed out a few hundred post ago in a response to someone..

Yes it was a terrible call but Lackey still could of came back with a good pitch AFTER THE BAD CALL and gotten the pitcher out instead of letting the BAD CALL affect him and end up leaving a pitch over heart of plate that pitcher was able to handle and line a single to CF..

That All..lol

Geesh..
Watching replays of game on sports networks now, even their saying Lackey needed to shake that off and come back with a good pitch to get him out.. especially in a big game like it was..
