For a Cardinal hater, it is VERY meaningful.

Damn those two runs due to Freeman's error hurt.

And Joe played it like a WS Game 7, yet used Pena. Odd.

All in all, a good sign that this team - with a makeshift starting lineup, and changes in game, including an injury, fought to the end. This is a very encouraging sign, even in a loss.

Yeah, the Cubs are totally going to trade away 40 HR a year guy who Theo Epstein loves because "reasons." And the smoking gun is that he was removed from a meaningless game in late September.
