Really thought they would go with Lackey in game 1, since they are not, I hope they leave him off the roster.

I don't think they can. Quintana could need to be backed up today and you would assume Lester would need the same tomorrow and the bullpen needs all the help it can get.

Just saying, since Joe did not even use him as a decoy in the first series, I cannot see how he plans to use Lackey this series.

Lackey real use is

Emergency starter
Extra inning reliever
Long man in 2nd/3rd inning of a blowout

I'd prefer a pitcher with swing and miss stuff in a high leverage situation (rondon) .

Lackey from the pen is worse than Lackey starting. If using a roster spot, this is the one place to pitch him. If he's your worst starting option of five, using him in the Kershaw start would hurt less if you lose. Pressure on LA to win the Kershaw start. Cubs would have "nothing to lose" attitude, and Q back in Game 2.

That said, I am not upset to see Q tonight. Still same pressure on LA, and if he throws a gem, stealing one is a real possibility. I have considered Q the X factor all along. (My new alphabet, by the way.)

or possibly a new equation.

Q = X

I agree, this is the one spot he would be used. No doubt looking ahead to game 6 and 7, which now go to Hendricks and Lester.

You remember the schwarber bomb to the top of the scoreboard was off a lefty right?

about a career 150 hitter vs lhp...
Vs the best in the game...

But let's recall the bomb he hit 3 years ago vs some meathead relief pitcher from stl

Cubs are taking this thing. Kershaw, Darvish, Wood, whatever....

Nobody anywhere seems to think Cubs can win this. Heard a few predicting LA in 5.

Let's play the games and see what happens.

You realize Kershaw is not just "A lefty", right?

and you realize Kershaw in the playoffs has not been kershaw either.

Make him work both sides of the plate. I would not be surprised if Maddon put Schwarber in the two hole.

TWO years ago. You don't need to embellish. :)

I agree. Kershaw has a monkey on his back, that only some broadcasters think he shed last year by stopping the nats in relief. (Who hasn't stopped the Nats in round one at this point?)

But if Schwarber plays, he better make him work the plate. Don't just K easily. Give me one timely bomb!
