Bats are dead too, can't win many games scoring 1 or 2 runs, i want Happ and Schwarber in Wrigley

I'm gotten to the point where I laugh when I hear people call Joe Maddon an elite manager. He does some things very well, but he is a poor strategist especially when it comes to the pitching staff.

I was nothing but a little league coach and I knew you don't put in the pitcher that is prone to giving up the long ball in the bottom of the 9nth with a runner on 2nd. This is ALL on Maddon

Much of this loss is on Maddon! Stupid stupid to put a pitcher in that excels at giving up the long ball. In a 1-1 tie game. He shouldn't of took out Duensing!!! Terrible managing!

The Cubs got three hits and you're trying to pin most of the blame on the manager?

You do you.

Not on Joe, though he deserves some blame.

The far greater truth is this: Dodgers have more talent and are playing better, period.

Unfortunately we don't have Mad-Baum to beat them singlehanded.

You don't lose in the bottom of the 9th with your best pitcher never entering the game, esp with runners on.

It's really a pretty simple move that our genius didn't make.

That said the offense has been simply pathetic.

Im not even upset...

This season belongs to the Dodgers and Astros..
Their built to win this year as Cubs were last year..

Im happy they got this far this year with all the question marks on this team..

I look forward to seeing what they do during the off season to retool and make a strong run next season...

2 SP
Bullpen
Maybe some changes to everyday lineup..

Think about it..
Its playoff and NLCS and not 1 guy is set in that OF playing every game..
Schwarber Heyward Zobrist Jay Almora Happ..

IMO it tough to win that way when there no rhythm going in the lineup..

Before anyone say they did ot last year.. they didnt..
Only position was Catcher

Rizzo
Baez
Russell
Bryant
Zobrist
Fowler
Heyward

Played everyday

Partly yeah. That was a bad decision. Hitting yeah, that was definitely one the big reasons we lost.

Not gonna lose much sleep over the fact that the Cubs aren't going back to the WS (they wouldn't beat the Astros anyway who will beat the Dodgers easily). It's damn difficult just to make the playoffs after winning the World Series. I believe only 1 out of the last 7 winners even made it back to the dance. The Cubs were horrible in the 1st half, played balls to the wall in the 2nd half, and appear to be out of gas after sneaking by the Nationals who should be embarrassed that they couldn't beat this worn down club.

Having said that, there is no excuse for not walking Turner there with 1st base open and 2 outs. He's their best hitter. It's the bottom of the ninth, it doesn't matter if they hit a grand slam. Maddon totally flubbed that one. The fact that this game was even this close with the Cubs walking what seemed like 10 guys is unheard of. Dodgers have played poorly in my opinion only the Cubs shooting themselves in the foot is why they are up 2-0. Did anyone swing at a strike against Jansen in the top of the 9th?

Theo has a lot of work for himself in the offseason. The bullpen is so bad that Maddon has to go to Lackey two days in a row? Awful, Theo. Arrieta and Lackey are gone and the bullpen needs a total rebuild. Some of these pitchers that the Cubs have drafted under Theo need to start contributing, or the Cubs are in big trouble going forward.

The best move is to trade Schwarber in the offseason for some pitching help. Guy flat out can't play LF, and Happ is gonna be a better overall player. Almora Jr. is your starting CF next year easily. What a joke that the 20 million plus Heyward has to be subbed out the game for offensive purposes in the playoffs, lol.

Bullpen that has crap left in it outside Davis

That was the perfect time to bat Schwarber and hope he connects on that fastball

Heyward money is sunk, no use grousing about it. And yes, Schwarbs needs to fast-track to the AL, though we will be selling relatively low on his value spectrum.

In the offseason, two big factors: (1) we need to invest some serious coin in FA, and (2) we need much better then Heyward-type return on that investment.

Go Blackhawks!!!! (Too soon?)

Schwarber has good post season numbers. I also wanted him in
Last year doesnt count nor is it meaningful. He sucks this year and cant hit a real fastball like Jansen has. Automatic strikeout

13 walks in 2 games what a joke, Lackey should have pitched to Taylor, he went 3 times through the signals with Contreras on the full count and then he threw one of the worst pitch of the night for ball 4

Neither can anyone else here. Since your dealing with now, this offense blows!

I have to admit...tonight was the first night I really scratched my head and wondered if Joe's Sabermetrics had a 99.99999% chance of Lackey getting out of that inning unscathed OR he had completely lost his mind. Sabermetrics must have been off 0.00001%? On a bright note...Wade Davis should be well rested and ready to go at Wrigley on Tuesday!
