Can Whitehair cut it as an NFL center?

Over and over again we've seen botched and wild snaps through the first 5 games. The guy can clearly block, but you have to wonder how much his ability to snap the ball affects what the Bears are trying (emphasis on trying) to do on offense.

Personally I think he's a guard and shouldn't be manning the center spot any more than absolutely necessary. One of Pace's focuses this offseason should be acquiring a vet center to give Trubisky some help.

Thoughts?

Well...He didn't have this problem last year, it's got to be mental at this point. So hopefully he can get it together.

Get a center and he's an allpro at guard.

And get some WRs asap!

He will move back to guard once Sitton is cut which is probably going to happen after this season. I wouldn't be against drafting a center early (especially if Pace can acquire more via trade down). Whitehair - draft pick - Long with Morgan/Kush/Grasu as back-ups.

I'd duct tape a ball to his hands and then duct tape that to his face.
Not to teach anything just for my own satisfaction.

Not true, he was good for one errant snap per game last year as well. He has actually gotten worse but it has always been a problem.

He is a guard but the problem is the Bears already have two pretty good guards in Kyle and Sitton. He will remain at center because of this.

Sitton is rapidly declining.

Cut Sitton in the offseason.
Move Whitehair to OG
Draft/Sign a Center

And please no one say Grasu he was better but still bad.

C Billy Price out of Ohio St. would be a perfect pick, and he may last until Round 2. Would be a steal and is definitely a Pace-type pick in the 2nd.

Whitehair-Price-Long. Young, nasty and technically sound.

No, Bears need as many lineman as possible to protect their franchise player. Not smart to get rid of a pro bowl guard that is still playing well. Make it work.

Does Sitton hold any trade value? If the actual plan is to move Whitehair to G, then Grasu can fill in at C for the rest of the year. We need to gather as many draft picks as possible.

If Pace is going to draft an O lineman, I would rather it be a tackle to replace Massie at some point. A veteran FA center would help more than a rookie for a young QB imo
