Yep.... "SOFT HANDS".... meaning hands that easily cradle the ball.

Football players know what this means.... and they know the difference.

You see it in guys like Larry Fitzgerald (suction cups)... versus hands on a guy like Marcus Wheaton.... hands like suction cups versus hands that the ball bounces easily out of

Shaheen has "hard" hands -- (to make it graphic for you) -- hands that basically bat the ball away

Plus he is slow.... all the things that never change -- bad hands and poor speed

.

Kid ran a 4.79....at 6'6 275+ id hardly call that slow. And the average for an nfl TE is 4.77. So......

And 100% of this board did not expect Fuller to have this sort of season.

This is part of the problem with this forum. There were some people that were convinced that he was going to make a resurgence. There were some that recognized his talent, but were wondering why he couldn't put it all together. And then a large part of the forums wanted him gone, called him a BUST, etc.

It's 0 or 1, white or black with so many people here. Time, coaching, development, progress are lost concepts here at CCS. Not to mention that with a much improved front 7, our CBs are going to naturally look better. Still, most people can't even grasp that concept. The internet turns people into mouth-breathing mongoloids.

I suggest that people calm down, think about all sides before making an emotional post or a post full of absolutes like... "FULLER SUCKS FUCK YOU TRESTMAN!" "TRUBISKY IS A BUST"

I agree with this post 100% and even though you constantly troll me and ****post at me and try to get other posters to gang up on me and generally do everything you can to make me feel unwelcome and disparage me with constant negative comments about my postings on here, I am not afraid to admit I agree with you on the points you make in the post of yours I am quoting here.

I have no problem waiting for him to develop. I don't know what the fuck is so hard to people to understand or comprehend around here.

Jesus fuck. Let the kid grow. Let him learn. Judge him at the appropriate time. Now he will see a role increase. Jesus. Halfway through his rookie year a athletic freak is still learning his way around professional football. How dare he not light up the league right away.

Bunch of fucking twats in here lately.

And enough with this Juju Smith nonsense. Every year, every draft, someone will be picked lower than player X and have a impact. Having a all pro WR on the other side and a vet HoF QB might be making him stand out.

Most people think that the players that need seasoning or need time to figure things out are 5-7th rounders. I can bet 90% of all football fans had to google Adam Shaheen when he was taken in the second, but some of our bear fans think they knew exactly what Pace was doing. There is a reason these tiny school with certain men among boys athletes do not get picked, GM's dont want to lose their jobs. This is not much different than the Kevin White deal, men among boys, ran three routes in college, has no technique, cannot get open in the NFL.

shaheen profiles closely to ertz in terms of his combine performance and draft status. ertz after 3 years in kelly's offense is finally playing well in pederson's offense, an offense that knows how to utilize him.

1. Videos are deceptive because they obviously take the best clips and leave out the worst

2. He has not shown good hands while with us - he fights the ball/does not have soft hands

3. He lacks the attitude and fire that I expected

4. 40 times are deceptive -- looking at the way he moves it is clear that he is slow and even clumsy

So, videos that show good plays are deceptive, because they show good plays?...and 40 times are deceptive when judging speed, because they measure speed? Sounds legit....

The video also contains quotes about how NFL teams viewed and ranked him. Interesting you say he lacks fire because he looks like a damn good blocker which was a question mark on his skill set when he was drafted.

As to #3, do you have personal experience about his attitude and “fire” (which needs further definition, please)? Are you in the locker room, on the the field or in the film room? Not defending Shaheen but would appreciate more information about what appears to be your access to inside information.

I actually watched real college footage of Shaheen and did a little breakdown...

The Critical Corner: Adam Shaheen

I saw no signs of these hard hands you speak of. Do you have any examples?

4 catches - 44 yards - 1 TD

He looked impressive today and like a 2nd rounder. Just had to be given the opportunity.

Shoulda been two tuddies for the big man today but shit happens. I am just happy to see him get some balls thrown his way finally. He also blocked well on at least one of Howard's TDs. I have to watch the game again since I missed so much of it while at work. I've been saying all along this kid just needs playing time and opportunities to prove himself an offensive weapon.

The fact that he has "hard" hands versus "soft" hands is not something that will ever repair itself. By the time players come into the league, the ability to catch the ball with soft or hard hands never changes.

Like many of you, I played college football. Going back to college and even high school, guys either have soft hands or they don't. Face it, Shaheen will always struggle catching the ball -- looking at this any other way is just naive, wishful thinking.

Prove it. Otherwise horseshit. If your post is indicative to your playing career my question is how many yards did you average punting at WaWa Tech?

Shaheen is known for his "soft" hands. That is what propelled him into the 2nd round. He is known for his ability to catch the ball.......

I believe the OP wasn't calling Shaheen a bust. As he repeatedly said. But that the action of taking a project TE with the Bear's second rounder is a bust draft choice.
That it should have been used on a pick that would be expected to make an immediate impact.

And I believe the answer was given already.
The Bears weren't expecting to compete this year.
