    Default Cubs' own station

Sorry for the dumb question but when are the Cubs going to have the own network station? I know that would be a big revenue maker for us.

At the end of the 2019 season they can negotiate for a new deal or make their own station.

My bet is that they partner with Comcast to create their own station. They could even make their own station before that, but it won't carry live games for obvious reasons.

I wonder what it costs local news and the national sports station to use the footage for the highlight shows.

    I am guessing nothing.

First it's the leagues that own the video, not the teams or stations.
Second, I think as long as credit is given and it's of a small length of time, it's free advertising.
Now there might be agreements done with the leagues to use highlights, but that would be done on the National level with the local stations getting the benefit as well by association to the national channel.
