To be fair, this was really the only truly remarkable game he's played so far. The others are characterized by few mistakes but few opportunities.

Correct. And that Bengals team today had been beat up, beat down and made lifeless by their big loss to the Steelers only days before. All of our receivers had a ridiculous amount of room to run -- it was pitch and catch out there.

Still, keep it coming. I am encouraged by what I saw today. That team was down and Trubs took advantage of them. I give him credit for stepping up and making them pay.

Just caught the 4th quarter of the Titans brutal loss to the Cards, 12-7. Mariota finished with 6 straight incompletions and looked terrible with his mechanics, throwing off back foot and rushing throws. He still only has Delanie Walker as a trusted receiver.

It's worth keeping this in mind as we look to evaluate Trubisky. Mariota has 2423 yards, a 62% completion percentage and 10TDs/12INTs, 80.4 QBR in his third season.

I was never that high on Mariota. He was an Oregon product and while talented, he still struck me as a system QB and would have difficulty transitioning to the NFL. He will never be terrible but I don't know how long he will play, or at least start. He is dealing with a knee injury this year which limits him, he has never been known to be an accurate passer, and I still wonder how well he will adapt long term to NFL systems.

If the offense is indeed opened up from here on out, then it will be via an edict from on high. The only reason the chains came off today is because the Bengals are a bad team. When Fox goes back up against quality opponents like the Lions and Vikings history tells us he will pull in the reigns and play Fox-ball trying to keep the game close and luck into a win.

I know you're posting from a senior home, but how do you explain "the only reasons the chains came off today because the Bengals are a bad team" after the 49ers game? I think Fox finally knows he's done and is letting Dowell do what he wants.

You Know it's a good day when Bellamy looks to be a soft hands WR, catching everything in stride.

Here are Mitch's passing stats since the Bye Week. Other than Philly, not too bad, right?

I’ll say it’s nice to have hope at the QB position.
Not a common theme in Chicago.
