Coaching

Head Coach: Matt LaFleur [Rams Offensive Coordinator]

usa_today_9666867.0.jpg

Offensive Coordinator: Mike Groh [Eagles WR Coach]

The 45-year-old Groh spent last season as the wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams. Despite the team's struggles, Kenny Britt had his first 1,000-yard campaign in eight NFL seasons, and Tavon Austin set new career highs in both receptions (58) and yards (509) under Groh's tutelage.

Defensive Coordinator: James Bettcher [Cardinals Defensive Coordinator]

The Cardinals finished last season with the NFLÂ’s #2 ranked defense after having the #5 ranked defense in BettcherÂ’s first season as defensive coordinator in 2015. It is the first time in team history the Cardinals have gone consecutive seasons with one of the leagueÂ’s top-five defenses. The #2 ranking in 2016 is the top defensive ranking in franchise history.

Bears sign Donte Moncrief to 4 years 39 million/11 guaranteed

Bears sign Sammy Watkins WR to 1 year 8.5 million

Sammy Watkins is 4th in receiving yards with the Los Angeles Rams with RB Todd Gurley in 3rd. Robert Woods & Cooper Kupp seems to be Jared Goff's favorite targets. It's doubtful he stays with the Rams and with his injury concerns it's hard to give him a long term contract.

Bears sign Alex Okafor OLB to 4 years 37 million/19 guaranteed

He deserves the Bruce Irvin contract he's having about as good as year you can have with the Saints defense.

Bears sign Demario Davis ILB to 3 years 16 million/9 guaranteed

Watkins will get a long term contract.

No one will pat that much for Moncrief.

Alex Okafor has 18 sacks in 5 seasons and has a torn achilles. He's not get $9mil+ per year.

Demario Davis isn't really an upgrade over Jones. At the very least he's the same kind of player and more expensive.

That cornerback group is awful.

I know this isn't the point of your thread, but Lamar Jackson going #1 overall? The Browns can't be that stupid.

Interesting coaching staff. Fine with LaFluer, but I don't know much about the other guys. They seem young, though.

No to Calvin Ridley in the first. Draft in the trenches.

Great job on the Iowa draft picks lol.

It's not going to be the Rams he's not getting the ball as often as he would like and Woods & Kupp are working good in that offseason.

He's better than his stats show if Andrew Luck was healthy he'd be bringing in big numbers. Colts offensive line & QB are bad right now.

It's hard to get a pick up in free agency without overpaying but I see him as the best OLB available maybe after the injury we could get him a little cheaper.

Maybe but ILB is a big need that needs to be addressed. Bring Freeman back?

Joshua Jackson has potential. Kyle Fuller is a number 2. What can we really do without overpaying?

QB hungry teams do stupid things - Johnny Manziel

I really hope we keep Vic Fangio somehow.

Ridley will be a beast in the NFL.

But someone will.

He's really not, probably will get a decent deal but not that much.

Okafor might not be ready for opening day. But at a much reduced cost he's probably worth it.

No, Freeman is gone. But in your scheme Davis is replacing Jones. They're basically the same player.

If you're going to over pay for WR and ILB but not for corner, that doesn't really make sense to me.

Someone will? Really? He is in the same boat Alshon Jeffery was last year struggling to stay healthy and he's not making much of an impact in the new system he is in. I'm giving him a prove it deal for a long term contract that Alshon Jeffery got. Any long term deal he's going to be offered will be low for his value. If Jeffery couldn't I really doubt Sammy Watkins can also WR want to work with a good QB.

I can see that.

Who would you recommend at ILB?

You have to understand that free agency isn't popping with young good CB's that the Bears can pick up. We are better off not picking up a CB for an overpriced amount and at the tail end of his career.

I'm willing to wager that Watkins will get a multiyear deal worth more than $8.5mil/year.

ILB, I'd resign Jones and then probably go after Korey Toomer or some other cheap vet. It's not really a premium position. Or I suppose you could not resign Jones and go after Zach Brown, but if Pace wanted him he could have grabbed him last year.

CB is where they need to spend some FA $, along with WR. Malcolm Butler, Bashaud Breeland, Trumaine Johnson (probably resigned), Amukamara, EJ Gaines, Nickell Roby-Coleman as a nickel. All those guys are young and good.

Coaching I like

Missing a talented pass rusher

I think Ridley is a reach in the 1st

WRs I’d like to see
Watkins
Landry
Richardson

I think Jarvis Landry, Allen Robinson and Paul Richardson are all more likely to hit free agency than Watkins.

Why do so many mocks just leave Mark Sanchez at backup QB...... seems like a horrible idea.

There are worse backup situations in the league than Sanchez. We can do a lot worse than a former starter with playoff experience.

So you're keeping Glennon? There is no reason to get rid of Meredith. He'll come cheap due to injury and he showed some promise already.
