Jets Thrash Buffalo
A four-game road trip started with the third consecutive victory for the Winnipeg Jets (26-11-7), who also won for the sixth time in their last seven games (6-0-1) after beating the Buffalo Sabres with a score of 7-4 at KeyBank Center on Tuesday. Nikolaj Ehlers (19 goals, 34 points this year) and Kyle Connor (15 goals, 28 points) tallied two snipes each. Patrik Laine (19 goals, 36 points) scored for his 100[SUP]th[/SUP] NHL point. Dustin Byfuglien (17 points) notched his second goal of the season, while Joel Armia (7 goals, 18 points) buried an empty-netter 1:05 minutes from time. The Jets outshot Buffalo 37-34, went 2-for-4 on power play, 2-for-3 on penalty kill and won 60% off all the face-offs.
Goalie Steve Mason made his first start since Dec. 23, turning away a total of 30 shots. He has now gone 3-6-1 for the season with a 3.52 GAA and a .897 save percentage and has posted an 8-12-3 past total versus Chicago with a 3.31 GAA and a .892 save percentage. Connor Hellebuyck (23-4-6 on the year with a 2.36 GAA and a .923 save percentage), meanwhile, has collected a 4-3-0 career tally against the Blackhawks with a 2.17 GAA and a .933 save percentage.
