The problem with the clowns on here is they like to live off of hindsight.

There are literally posts from a year ago where you are lamenting that most bears fans didn't seem to have any hope for Glennon. I think your memory is short on this one because very little of this is judging based primarily on hindsight. A lot of people judged correctly as it happened that he was a poor signing.

Have to disagree man. Glennon was a bum in TB which is why they replaced him as soon as possible. I hated the signing as soon as it was made and only started to hate it less when Mitch was drafted as I didn’t care anymore.

I’m not sure how many teams were in pursuit of Glennon and I’d only be speculating but I’d asssume not many as he has always been someone who loses all accuracy when moved off his spot and had 0 mobility.

The only way I’ve justified it is that he was, believe it or not, regarded as the top QB on the market for a reason I can’t fathom and it appeared to have worked as a smokescreen to get Mitch.

Maybe he was a bum, but they offered to make him the highest paid backup in the league so they were in no rush to get rid of him before we offered him that contract.

So now that Glennon's contract is terminated, what's the chance Pace thinks he's the right vet backup for the Bears?

Glennon aint be coming back. While he got paid, he knew he never got a real shot to succeed. Same lame bs team da mitch had to deal with. Same lame duck coaching staff........ the same management... Once things die down.... well once cousins is signed and foles is figured out, glennon gonna get some love somewheres else.

Foles was cursed by fisher, the Glennon cursed by the bears brass n fox.

QB market done be did officially heated up

Man, Jeff Fisher might actually have the making of an elite GM. Look at all of the talent he’s put together.

What if they signed him for 8 million and released him?

would everything be hunky dory? People are taking it as a personal affront that Pace paid Glennon 18 million for one year.....

It was part of a larger plan to get Trubisky. And if Trubisky turns out to be the real deal, it was all worth it......

What if Pace only paid 8 million to Glennon or didn't even get Glennon.....and another team drafted Trubisky over the Bears........would fans be high fiving each other because the Bears didn't spend that extra few million and the McCaskey's pocketed the money? Would DezBears be posting the "At Least we Saved the McCaskey's 18 Million Dollars Mock Draft"?

Pace was playing the long game and spent the extra money to increase his odds of getting Trubisky..........Did he over spend? yes we can all agree on that. But if Trubisky works out, it will look like a stroke of genius......AND THE 18 MILLION WON'T FUCKING MATTER.

LOL. How did signing glennon increases odds of getting trubiksy? those are mutually exclusive events.

This has been discussed ad naseum on the forum. Glennon was 2 things; to make teams believe that the Bears got their QB and insurance in case they did not Trubisky. Unless you are on meth, it is obvious that Pace had been targeting Trubisky since before free agency.

The contract given to Glennon was obviously avoidable after one year. Everyone was shocked the Bears took Trubisky. And that was by design.

In no way shape or form was Glennon anything more than a misdirection and a one year player for the Bears.

He was a bridge and one that most thought would suffice for a year or 2. That those who erred in that way are being treated like they thought him a savior is quite unfair. Whether he was brought in to muddy the draft or not, the affect is the same and why all were surprised when we selected Trubs.

Michael Joseph Glennon is an American football quarterback for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League. He played college football at NC State and was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft. Wikipedia

Little wishful thinking on the OP part. Glennon has not been released. Yet.

Unless CLE drafted him at 1, which was rumored right up until the draft, and they likely didn't because of Glennon. Give credit where it is due. Pace played CLE like a fiddle.

No they likely didn't because they thought Garrett was the best player.

Everyone was surprised we traded up to get Mitch, but it wasn't a stretch to think the bears were drafting a qb. Hell, I thought they would take Watson at 3

I thought that too...not sure why everyone was shocked when they traded up to grab a QB

They weren't going to do that for Peppers or whoever that other S/CB was

It's asinine to suggest Mike Glennon stopped cle from drafting trubisky. If they wanted trubisky they would have just drafted him. This is one of the numerous stupid theories pace nut huggers have used to excuse his failure.
