Head is the same size. So it is off for him. All I care about is his production. If he becomes more well rounded as a player vs a HR stick and a major liability everywhere else I'll take it.

Looks like he is purposely going opposite field. Obviously, this is a phony video

Actually that sorta what Chili Davis preaches...
Great, I'm excited to see what Davis can do with these guys. Obviously, they didnt listen one bit to the last hitting coach

always interested to see how his power goes. will he lose a few mph off the throws from left, which rival heyward in right.

Schwarber, unlike several other Cubs players, is not a dead pull hitter. He does specifically hit to LC gap with authority.

He hits to LF by accident when he swings late, not on purpose

Wrong post is wrong.
nope, sorry

If Schwarber is so proficient at going opposite field then why did he do it so few times even when every pitchers was pitching him 6 inches off the plate. Could it be that he was trying to pull every ball?

I'm not one to talk about hitting mechanics but I'll add what I am good at. Among cubs with 300 PAs last year the players with best Oppo% sorted descending

1 Jon Jay - 35.2 %
2 Albert Almora Jr. - 27.5 %
3 Kyle Schwarber - 25.4 %
4 Addison Russell - 25.3 %
5 Ian Happ - 23.7 %
6 Kris Bryant - 22.5 %
7 Javier Baez - 21.9 %
8 Anthony Rizzo - 21.8 %
9 Willson Contreras - 20.9 %
10 Jason Heyward - 19.8 %
11 Ben Zobrist - 17.6 %

And because I was curious myself league average for Oppo% is 25.3%

Doesnt mean he was purposely trying to hit to left field. If you are swinging late on pitches 6 inches off the plate it's going to LF.

Many of us commnet on the forum during the game. If you were here last year you know how many times I commented about Schwarber trying to pull pitches off the plate, begging him to go with the pitch. It's easy to tell an inside out swing versus a late swing and him purposly hitting opposite field didnt happen often

My hope is that all that changes this year with the new hitting coach and better attitude by Schwarber. With his power he should have plenty of hits to LF

Hitters are taught to hit for SLG. So normally hitters are looking to drive in the alley on their pull side because that is their power center.

Going for oppi is more of a contact hitter who are looking to slap a single. Which is equal to working a count for a walk.

Schwarber just needs to keep in his wheel house and accept his walks vs swinging at pitches that are intended to produce results that favor the shift.
