I guess I’m the only one but I don’t like Edmunds at #8. He plays like an ILB to me despite his height. I dont see him as an OLB/Edge rusher any more than I saw Urlacher as one.

He’s only 20 so I get that excitement but if its a pick between Edmunds and say Nelson, I’m more in camp Nelson because I feel he’s more of sure thing and would provide bigger improvement to the team.

It’s hard to watch your team take a guard when Edmunds is so athletic but it’s still the move that helps the team the most... not only does Mitch get a clean pocket but Howard gets huge running lanes. That sets up our whole offense immediately and makes everyone better.

Edmunds while a super athlete with a world of talent could get be a guy that reacts but can’t read at the pro level right away. Having that athleticism is nice once it’s consistently making the right reads. But when it’s not it can really become another issue.

Nelson is consistent. If he’s there he might be what’s best.

I’m happy with either.,.

If the draft falls like this, who is the pick?

Browns - Barkley
Giants - Darnold
Colts - Chubb
Browns - Mayfield
Broncos - Allen
Jets - Rosen
TB - Ward (CB and Edge are huge needs)
Bears -

I'm going with Davenport. But there are several other guys I'd be happy with as well...

And it was a tough choice for m between Fitz and Davenport. Assumed we keep Fuller.

It is a great illustration of the talent that can be there at 8. I assumed Cousins to the Vikings and didn’t factor any of the QB trade up possibilities.

Edmunds intrigues the hell out of me.

There really is nothing he cannot do on defense.

-You want him to rush the passer, okay.
-You want him to play the run at ILB, okay.
-You want him to blitz the A gap, okay.
-You want him to cover Kyle Rudolph in the red zone 1 on 1, okay,

Probably Davenport. But Edmunds looked great too. AND then there's Nelson. I might move back to 11 with MIA, trade for Landry. Then take one of those three. Tough. I really like all three.

It would kind of feel like having two Floyd's, who also is a Swiss army knife guy with impressive athletic measurables.

They better be running to the podium to select Minkah Fitzpatrick.

I just can't imagine drafting a nickel cornerback in the top 10 picks. Kid has a ton of versatility though.

If I draft a DB in the top 10, would have to be an absolute lock down, take out your #1 WR type of CB.

Just not impressed with a hybrid FS/CB/NB guy that early.

I don't know how well Jamal Adams went over with the Jets last season but I don't think he was a stud.

I didn't realize this when I started the thread but Edmunds is the #3 graded player in the draft. He may not make it past 7.

Only 5 prospects with a grade above 7.0 and here they are:

BARKLEY, SAQUON 7.4
NELSON, QUENTON 7.4
EDMUNDS, TREMAINE 7.2
CHUBB, BRADLEY 7.2
DARNOLD, SAM 7.1

Good point. Makes Edmunds that much more desirable.

Different type of draft as well. Could have 3-4 qbs going top 8. Bears are going to walk away with a top 4 player from this draft that's not a QB. Take Edmunds, Nelson, Fitzpatrick or Davenport.

I need to go back and see his pass rushing abilities. You mentioned in another thread him having 4 sacks in his last 6 games, but coming free on a blitz is a lot different than beating a tackle 1-on-1. I'm still not sold on him as a pass rusher.

Report I read on him was he really has no outside pass rushing skills mainly because he was used more inside. Not to say he couldn't develop some technique...his athleticism is huge.

The blitzes you could disguise would be scary

Telegraphing him bursting into the A gap would be scary. Those kind of blitzes are what helps Minnesota play so well against Green Bay

Moon and JJ both have the Bears selecting Edmunds in their latest mock at CSN Chicago.

“8. Chicago Bears

JJ: Tremaine Edmunds, LB, Virginia Tech

Edmunds is a freak athlete who only turns 20 a few days after the NFL Draft. While he only had 5 1/2 sacks last year with Virginia Tech, he said last week he’s confident he could succeed at outside linebacker, which would certainly help fill a glaring need for a Bears team that needs at least one more reliable edge rusher. “I don't limit myself so I can perfect my craft at whatever position it is,” Edmunds said. “Whatever position they ask me to play, I'll be fine."

Moon: Tremaine Edmunds, LB, Virginia Tech

If there’s a trade-down scenario for Nelson, Bears would seriously consider. But the need after releasing Pernell McPhee is for rush-LB and those are too rare and too expensive in free agency. Edmunds has length for 3-4 OLB or possible ILB when Bears go nickel. Decision will be between Edmunds, with length, and Roquan Smith, with better production (6.5 sacks, 14 TFL in ’17).”
