My favorite teams
It's in my signature, but I'll go ahead and throw a brief explanation of each pick on here
1 - Tremaine Edmunds, ILB. This guy has the athletic traits to line up all over the field, but he is raw as a blue steak. Start him out as the second ILB next to Trevathan, and play to his strengths while he learns the rest. We can build his confidence and get him valuable on-field reps by having him focus on coverage; he can occasionally blitz but let's not get ahead of ourselves. The kid has what it takes to be a generational talent, and I trust Fangio to build him up the right way.
2 - Will Hernandez, OG. This move keeps Whitehair at center for the time being. With Sitton gone and Long having yet another injury, we have to start looking to the long term future of the position. Hernandez is a great OG prospect and can get on the field immediately. This pick also follow's Pace's formula by following up the athletic, high-ceiling first round pick with a solid starter on the lines. Or, well, that was his formula for the first two years. Last year was an anomaly on that one, where he picked pretty much all high-ceiling athletic picks. Well getting Hernandez is back to basics, and lands us a solid starter to balance the risk of swinging for the fences in the first round.
4 - Brett Toth, OT. The guy is a good prospect at tackle and can be your classic swing tackle. He has a two-year commitment with the armed services, as an engineer. I am glad that he is honoring that commitment, and I want to see him rewarded for doing so. A 4th rounder for a guy who will not be here for two years might seem like a lot, but nothing is stopping us from looking to next year's draft and FA to look for Massie's replacement. I am content with a 4th rounder being our future third tackle.
4 - Marcell Frazier, OLB. Here is an edge rusher to add to the group. We need a lot of young talent here. As far as I know, we have Floyd, Acho, Irving and now Lynch in this group, which means we have a super-athletic Floyd, a couple of backups, and a 1-year prove it deal with someone who hasnt shown up in a few years. Frazier is going to come in and be that electric rookie like Anderson was for us years ago, as he has a lot of pass rush moves but is nothing more than a specialist as a rookie.
5 - Derrick Nnadi, NT. Goldman needs to have someone that can rotate in to catch a breather. Bullard is a fine and worthy backup, but Nnadi can be the nose tackle specialist. He, like most college DLman, needs to add productive weight through strength training to be an effective NT, but that is fine. Let him get a drive or two so Goldman gets a breather, lining up next to Hicks will make his job infinitely easier.
6 - Teo Redding, WR. This is my training camp hero. We addressed our receiver issues a lot in FA. If we bring back Meredith (who we tendered) and Inman (who we didnt, last I checked), then we have three outside WRs. Technically White is in there too. Gabriel has played outside and in the slot, but with his athletic traits I see him as a slot guy in a KC-esque system that I expect Nagy to run. Well, someone needs to fill in Bellemy's ST spot that I predict will be vacated, and Redding can do that and more. Not only does he have the speed to be a gunner, he has the hands to actually catch the ball and run with is! Bellamy doesnt have shit on him. This guy has athletic upside for days. 7 - Jake Pruehs, C. I tend to put a Bobcat in my mock, so sue me. Sorry to all you BPA nerds out there, this pick us purely based on need. We need a backup center because Grasu shouldn't even back up the towel boy. Hopefully we dont have any injuries that cause us to reshuffle the line, but this guy can handle snapping duties. He was on the watch list for the Remington and Outland trophies, and anchored the line for every game as a senior. Plus, everyone who "studied" in Athens is a verified, card-carrying badass. Why not throw a 7th rounder at him and see what he has for a year or two?
In sum, that is getting us a starter at ILB and OG in the first two rounds, then a guy who has a two year commitment to the army, then two rotational players at OLB and NT, a ST WR who might show up as a big play guy if given the chance, and a backup center.
