Four pitch walk ahead of him, high and inside, and Baez is moving his bat. :)

I love the guy big time, but I really need to see him knock that shit off. And I really don't want to see him get a broken wrist.

Would anyone be surprised if the Marlins were contracted before the 5th?

Get what youre saying but im sure he was up there looking for Uhera to try and get ahead with a first pitch fastball like he did with Happ and looking to smoke it...

Another thing, im not sure Baez the right guy to bat in front of pitcher..
He not patience enough to lay off bad pitches when their pitching around him to get to pitcher..

Russell or Heyward be good there..

The Cubs talked about the infield D and Rizzo mentioned "making the plays they should make".

One inning in, and Russell has made a nice play, and an error that cost a run. They need to be a little more conservative. This should be 3-0, not 3-1.

It was a hit and error..
Castro would of beaten the throw, the error just got him to 2nd..

The error didnt cost the run, the walk and single that followed did

Whatever. Jesus - did you think I said he scored on the error? Yeah, I guess the walk would have moved him up anyway. But do you not get the overall point?!

We spent last year getting flashy plays and making way too many errors. We don't need to see that again.

That was only an error because Addy got to the ball, something only one in ten shortstops can do. And nine times out of ten, he throws the runner out at first. I'll take that kind of error, thanks.

You said it should be 3-0 not 3-1 because of that error..

Plus.. not sure what your complaint is on what he did..
He fielded a ball in the hole and tried to throw him out, the throw went wide..

What should he have done in that situation?
Sorry just dont see that as trying to make a "flashy play" that cost them anything..

I am not ripping Addy's overall D, but this response completely misses the point.

Yes, it was a hit.
Yes, he got to the ball, which many do not.

The entire point is knowing when not to throw. He wasn't going to get Castro, yet he allowed an extra base.

That was the entire point! We take away a lot of hits. Let's not give extra bases trying to be flashy. Be steady as well. Use smarts. It's like a QB throwing interceptions trying to squeeze a ball into a tight window. Sometimes you need to not force the play.

I love Russell. I think he could win a Gold Glove. He made a real nice play getting to the ball. But putting the man on second is inexcusable. Those things matter.

Glad he didnt hurt himself, would of liked to have seen Schwarb just go right to the wall on that instead of hesitating...

Wonder if he didn't the ball right away
