This damn Chatwood makes my butt tired. Ok, I get he's a #5 but still....all these fucking walks, you're just begging for trouble.

This is unfamiliar to me..

Is that a starting pitcher pitching in the 7th inning?

I thought a pitcher could only throw 85 times a day followed by a mandatory 4 day rest

His "deke around 1B and stretch a single to a double" ability has got to be an 80.

Assuming the score remains +8 in favor of the cubs they are about to move from 9th to 3rd(with scores right now) in run diff.

Heyward's up to .277/.360/.431(121 wRC+). That would tie for his second highest wRC+ ever if it were over the full season. Best was his rookie year where he was 134. Crazy thing is I still think there's more here based on his batted ball data. Line drives have some what come back(13.0 %) but we're talking another 5-6% before he's at his career rates.

Also of note, Baez and Schwarber I believe are both top 10 in wRC+. Bryant is just a couple shy of being top 10.

When it is a line up thing it is a hitting coach thing.

Cubs hitters vs RHP sorted by wRC+

#1 in MLB Baez .364/.417/.927 256 wRC+
#3 in MLB Schwarber .360/.458/.760 226 wRC+
#29 in MLB Heyward .311/.396/.533 154 wRC+
#32 in MLB Bryant .255/.455/.447 152 wRC+
#80 in MLB Contreras .259/.344/.426 115 wRC+

Zobrist and La Stella haven't played qualified PAs but Zobrist is .320/.414/.520 159 wRC+ and La Stella is .333/.379/.407 121 wRC+

So interesting notes beyond the obvious wtf's at the top of the list, this is supposed to be where the cubs are "bad". Last year they struggled comparatively vs RHP. But I'm guessing the numbers look better this year given the two headed monster Baez and Schwarber have been vs RHP. Even Schwarber's K rate is down(like Baez's) to a reasonable 22%. Their BABIP's at .389 and .387 aren't even hyper inflated. Baez is a career .330 BABIP guy and Schwarber while not having a great BABIP in the majors thus far(.267) did have a .384 BABIP in the minors. He's not likely to keep that but like Baez wouldn't shock me to see him settle into the .330 range eventually. Like wise Heyward's BABIP is .293. In other words, this probably isn't luck and they are likely just hitting the shit out of the ball. Obviously in the case of Baez and Schwarber the slugging will come down over time but the average and OBP look like they could hold some what decently.

Hipster :D. Time to jump on the Heyward train before people realize he's good so far this year?

Heyward could have an excellent year and people would bring first two seasons and contract. It’s like how they thought Soriano was awful for us. He wasn’t. He just aged and was over paid. He was a driving force for our back to back playoffs but no one will ever say that or I mean the crazy ones

So will you be upset if he opts out and looks for a better deal? I mean, that would have been the goal with Eloy taking over out there and we all know there was no way he was going to be able to opt out with another dismal year hitting.

He won’t opt out. He has no skin in that game after this last off season. Also, if he did. The cubs still have plenty of talent to fill the position. Eloy was traded because he doesn’t fit the current window. But, I will put heyward staying at 99.9 percent

Even if he has a monster season I can't fathom why people think Heyward is going to get more money. The two years prior to coming to the cubs he had a 4.7 win season and a 5.6 win season. Those type of season's aren't "normal." As an example, if you exclude Bryce Harper's monster 2015, he has never had a season better than 4.9. So assuming Heyward even if he were to put up a good season would suddenly get more money has always been strange to me.

"Uh, hey, J-Hey. We're going to sign Harper to your position. You probably will be a bench guy at this point and maybe playing CF a little bit," says Cubs FO at end of year.
