But to the crux:

Alozay: 4.1 IP 9 hits. 4 ER.

I get that you are seeing stars here. Top Cubs prospect and all. But that is your gut feel?

Look he is clearly not ready. He has not mastered AAA hitting yet.

3 ER in 6 IP is still a 4.50 ERA. Not really reaching. Hendricks was off. Q was on. Nothing else to be said.
Ok???
Lol

I'll take 3 runs in 6 innings from every starter every game...

Wow... lol

No my gut feel at the time i mentioned it was....

With next year being a team option year for Quintana..
IF he continues to struggle and Alzolay continues to impres, they could use Q in a trade at deadline or off season..

I didnt say make that move now

That is fringe MOR. 4.50 ERA

In 32 starts 6 IP 192 IP

Looking at Q: 200 IP 3.51 ERA/ 200 IP 3.32 ERA/ 206 IP 3.36 ERA/208 IP 3.20 ERA That is what the Cubs bought. Even last year didn't change that as he ended up 4.15 ERA with 188 IP

That is better than a 6 inning pitcher with a 4.50 ERA ok.

It would entirely depend on who you got back, as to whether trading Q would be worthwhile.

I'd trade Q, Baez and Schwarber as a package, if I got back Mike Trout. Or Max Scherzer. But I wouldn't trade Brock for Broglio... er, I mean, Quintana for someone who hasn't proven he has the ability to rise above what we're getting from Q right now.

No you were bandwagoning to off Q. And I countered with you would be stupid to sell low. You sell high if you have no control and are sucking that year. Theo has done this many times in his rebuild but that is not here and now. They are operating in a winning window and do not make decisions based off of a few starts. They address what the problem is and correct it. That is why they pay coaches as much as they do.

You couldn't get Trout for Bryant, Rizzo, Baez and Quintana

You realize if he was allowed to pitch 1 more inning , hed had a QS right ?

I think you're trying to reach a little bit there..

This is sarcasm, right?

You say “if he had pitched one more inning, he’d have had a quality start”, and say the other guy is reaching.

A quality start of 3 runs in 6 innings is an ERA of 4.50, Which is not good. Falling one inning short of that low bar is a bad start. Plain and simple.

Rizzo needs to take more pitches and stop dropping that shoulder so much.

2-0 with a man on, and he pops out on an inside pitch.

We know what he can -and almost certainly will -do, but this is going on much longer than expected. He’s at his best when he is more patient.

Who would want to?

Really....who would gut their team for one player? I wouldn't do that for Ted Williams or Babe Ruth. Trout is good but he's not priceless.

Cincy announcer have me cracking up. Saying Cubs fielders must be mortified when Yu takes mound. Afterwards say happ and Baez look like they are taking a nap.
