Read an article on 247 sports, but here is the short version of what it said.... any early predictions??

The 2018 season is still far away for the Chicago Bears. The team still needs to knock out some OTA sessions, a mandatory minicamp, training camp and the preseason before the final 53-man roster can be formulated. The NFL has become a year-round business and that means the league never, ever sleeps. Chicago has done a lot of things right this offseason. A new head coach was hired in Matt Nagy after John Fox was fired. New weapons were added on offense in Allen Robinson, Taylor Gabriel and Trey Burton in free agency. The Draft gave the Bears a new cornerstone on defense in linebacker Roquan Smith.

Expectations are currently mixed for the Bears organization as they head into their fourth year with general manager Ryan Pace as the man in charge. Some are predicting a Los Angeles Rams-type turnaround in 2018, while others are not so sure the team has done enough to bolster the roster this season to be a viable threat in the NFC North.

In our list below we take a look at some of the projected early predictions for team awards for the 2018 season. In the list we explore eight different awards for the upcoming season:

Most Improved Player - TE Adam Shaheen
Biggest Disappointment - TE Trey Burton
Comeback Player of the Year - WR Kevin White
Offensive Rookie of the Year - LG James Daniels
Defensive Rookie of the Year - LB Roquan Smith
Defensive Player of the Year - DE Akiem Hicks
Breakout Star - RB Tarik Cohen
Most Valuable Player - QB Mitch Trubisky

Can Kevin White be the biggest disappointment 3 years in a row?
Roquan Smith may challenge for both defensive rookie and defensive player of the year.
MVP I can see Howard taking it, and possibly Akiem Hicks if he really steps it up this year.

Kevin White has been tabled for 'Comeback player of the year' for 3 years now. Not buying it

Definitely agree with Leonard Floyd being comeback player of the year. Maybe Breakout Star would be more applicable to Floyd, though.

Didn't like giving the same player three mentions, but I figure if he is the most improved player, then he's guaranteed to be a breakout star and the team MVP.

You can't be a comeback player of the year if you're not coming back to your former NFL self. He hasn't done anything yet

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Illinois Fighting Illini
  2. Illinois State Redbirds
Most Improved Player - QB Mitch Trubisky - Big step in year 2 with a competent coaching staff and weapons at his disposal.

Biggest Disappointment - WR Taylor Gabriel - Doesn't live up to expectations of members of the board. Predict he will be this years version of Wheaton, getting beat out by Miller and White for playing time.

Comeback Player of the Year - OG Kyle Long - Healthiest he's been in awhile, predict a return to pro-bowl form.

Offensive Rookie of the Year - WR Anthony Miller - Big time playmaker who should receive a lot of playing time and opportunity.

Defensive Rookie of the Year - LB Roquan Smith - Stud. Pretty self explanatory, has potential to push for defensive player of the year.

Defensive Player of the Year - DE Akiem Hicks - Again, stud. Lead the team in sacks from the d-line. 8.5 sacks, 54 total tackles (both more than Fletcher Cox and Gerald McCoy). Played 85% of defensive snaps, team captain.

Breakout Star - TE Trey Burton - Finally out of the shadow of Zach Ertz. Played extremely well when Ertz was hurt, showcasing all the skills to be a dominant receiving TE in the league when he was starting. In the two games last season that Burton started when Ertz was injured Burton had 7 catches, 112 yards and 3 TD's. A TE in a Matt Nagy offense has a target share of 30.9%.

Most Valuable Player - QB Mitch Trubisky - The success of the Chicago Bears land solely on Trubisky. Period. If they are winning it is because he progressed. If they are losing it is because he hasn't developed as much as he should. I'm betting on the progress and the winning (8+ wins). Trubisky is far and away the most valuable player on the team.
