So the Bulls have 13 spots filled. The two-way contracts can be cut, retained, or if cut- offered to other signings. That would be Blakeney. And 3 RFAs. So correct me if I'm wrong. That means the Bulls need to sign one more player to the roster for the league minimum since Blakeney is one of the two spots for two-way-contracts, or did Vonleh get picked up quietly? Anyone know 100%? Seems like NBA.com/bbref/realgm/espn/hoopshype/yahoo all have conflicting information when it comes to the Bulls roster for 2018-19.

I recall them taking away the qualifying offer from Nwaba. Wasn't aware Zipser was waived but meh

Updated Nwaba.
Zip had some kind of knee surgery and himself expected to be waived, so I'm guessing his days in the NBA are over.

But the 14th man is finished, so Bulls can now sign up to two, two-way players.

The Bulls plan to sign Blakeney to a minimum deal Thursday, sources said.

The deal will bring the Bulls roster to 14 contracts and likely end their significant business for the offseason.

So updated Blakeney too.

Guess that's the roster then. Probably they bring Archi back as a 2 way contract if he's still eligible for that. Who cares about Vonleh and we have enough of a big man logjam anyway.

Now I am no cap expert but I am a bit confused as to why the Bulls needed to dump all these players in order to sign Jabari. Who are they even paying other than Lavine and Lopez? Most of the roster is on a deal of 5M or less save for Lavine, Asik, Lopez, and Felicio (wtf are the Bulls doing with those big man contracts btw). Yet I'm seeing stuff that in order to sign Jabari to his 20M deal that they needed to clear Zipser and that Julyan Stone fellow we dumped Grant for.

Thus in total they dumped Nwaba, Grant, Kilpatrick, Zipser, and Stone to sign Jabari. How much do those salaries even add up to? 8M? I would've figured we'd be way under the cap anyway. Not that it really matters because all those guys suck, but just from a numbers perspective I don't get it.

The cap was set at 101.9m

Blakeney was just signed at the minimum, so he was last. It makes sense.
Here's the breakdown.

JerseyPlayerPositionOpening Day Age2018-19 Salary
32Kris DunnPG24$4,221,000.00
22Cameron PaynePG24$3,263,295.00
8Zach LaVineG23$19,500,000.00
7Justin HolidaySG29$4,384,616.00
9Antonio BlakeneySG22$1,349,383.00
12Jabari ParkerF23$20,000,000.00
45Denzel ValentineG/F24$2,280,600.00
15Chandler HutchisonG/F22$1,994,040.00
24Lauri MarkkanenF/C21$4,536,120.00
5Bobby PortisF/C23$2,494,346.00
42Robin LopezC30$14,357,750.00
34Wendell Carter JrPF/C19$4,446,840.00
6Cristiano FelicioF/C26$8,470,980.00
3Omer AsikC32$11,286,516.00
Average24
Total$102,585,486.00

So pre-Blakeney + Jabari, the Bulls are at: $101,236,103.00 and Zipser was $1.5m, last player to be waived and also had no dead cap hit.

Interesting...guess that's what a little extra bloat from useless players like Asik and Felicio do

I still think they want Nwaba back, they just felt his salary would end up being less than their qualifying offer.

As far as the money, Lopez is 14.3 million, Jabari is 20 and Lavine we are assuming at 18 and the Felicio fiasco is 8. They still might end up signing another expiring contract and waiving them, wont rule out Carmello if its the right picks.

Just for continuity. Here is one of the 2-way slots, unless Antonius Cleveland gets a 2-way as well, although he may be practice squad.

https://www.nba.com/bulls/news/bulls-sign-rawle-alkins-two-way-contract

Alkins (6-5, 220), who went undrafted in 2018, played two seasons at Arizona. He was named a Pac-12 All-Conference Honorable Mention his sophomore season and was also a Pac-12 All-Freshman Team member in 2016-17. In his career at Arizona, he averaged 11.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists over 60 games (57 starts) with the Wildcats, scoring a career-high 26 points in a win at New Mexico (12/16/17), on 9-of-11 shooting (.818), including a 3-3 mark from the 3-point line.

Anybody want deng?

What was actually the deal with Deng in LA? Luol didn't play all last season, but I don't remember seeing him being injured. Luol always had bad knees if I recall. I could see him signing in Minnesota to re-unite with Thibs for cheap. With the year off, he should be fresh provided he has stayed in shape.
