I guess, if that what Chatwood supposed to be..lol

He was going to do this last week with Lester on the mound but changed it to the way i have it..
Maybe because he preferred having Baez arm and range at 3rd over Happ in case of bunts..

I mean it *is* what Chatwood is. He's got a 54.4% ground ball rate. League average among starters is 43.2%. Monty is the nearest starter on the cubs with 49.6%. Frankly its probably the only reason he hasn't been an utter catastrophe given his walk rate.

Yea, if i recall i think he was getting out of alot of early jams in the beginning with strikeouts and DP

I'm not sure what to expect today with him. He kept in the zone last game and paid for it. So they are doing something and it really feels work in progress.

Well looking at his sequencing thus far he went curve, curve, and his first hit going to the curve a 3rd time. After that he switched to 4 seam/cutter style. No change ups thrown.

It really feels like he has no identity as a pitcher.

2 change ups back to back after down and away... now he is scared and walked a guy.

Well this inning can go very wrong. It feels like he has lost his confidence to me.

I expect same old Chatwood..
High pitch count via walks and hits
and either 4 or 5 innings pitched..

Only thing that unsure of is whether or not he gets out of innings with none or minimal damage, because he will give up baserunners..

As far as working on stuff as a SP, think it a little too late to try and figure stuff out in the 2nd half when youre chasing a team(s) for division and playoff

It is becoming increasingly more difficult to watch games when Chatwood pitches.

I see it as he needs to zone throw more. if he goes up it needs to be a 4 seam and counter it with a curve. So both are starting at the same plane the curve drops. If he wants to go down in the zone switch to a 2 seam/change up counter.

The cutter is ok to mix in here and there but in general it is better paired with a slider.

Happ knows the strike zone. He just misses the pitch.

You can analyze him til youre blue in the face..

It comes down to his inability to throw strikes and when he falls behind he just throws meatballs up there ...

The guy has nothing working for him and as you said, ZERO confidence in anything he throws

Do these pitchers suck that much at bunting that Maddon would risk letting them swing away and hit into DP, to kill an inning
