No matter how shitty he is throwing, Lester MUST throw every 5th day. I thought for sure Monty would get game 1.

That has been tried, unsuccessfully, many times.

Much like scolding a dog three days later, and hoping it learns its lesson, the exercise falls on deaf ears and only serves to further frustrate the instructor.

Gawds, I loved that moment. Rizzo communicated with Strop without saying a word. Or blinking. And not a smile on either his face or Strop's to ruin the moment. Just a short, earnest, non-verbal instruction, from Tony to Pedro -- "Do NOT fuck this up!"

I'm certain the smiles over this moment came later, in the celebration room...

Here's the thing about Jon Lester; the dude is a fucking gamer through and through. He's older, he's lost a touch on his velo and finding that release point and keeping it consistently throughout the game does not come as easily as it used to. Lester's issues, going back a decade, have always been the same susceptibility to the long ball and preceding those long balls with walks. Used to drive to drive me nuts when he played for Boston too (my second team). As he's lost some of the physical gifts those weaknesses are exacerbated and sometimes go on for longer stretches than they did before. All that said this is my #1 starter in a playoff series and I don't even question it.

Its almost like when we watched MJ night in and night out, its special but you just come to expect it.
