Nice called strike to Bote. a foot farther from the zone than the pitch to Braun.

No. It isn't. Braun was struck out for out number 3.

Right, but being all over the place doesn't help. The ump's been shit all day, but Hamel was getting plenty of calls off the plate. Edwards wasnt throwing strikes, and he immediately walked in the tying run. He implodes like that often enough in big game situations that I can't just put it on one missed call.

His missed call absolutely led to a run. Had he called it correctly, the inning is over. No excuse!

Maybe if the next player wasn't walked in without removing the bat from his shoulder, I'd agree.

The BP is blowing this game. They are not making pitches, plain and simple.

Edwards had just struck out 2 straight batters before Braun and subsequently had Braun struck out. There is no excuse for an umpire to miss a strike 3 on a curve right down Main Street.

There isn't any reason to disagree with his statement. The next batter wouldn't have been up at the plate to walk.

Our great defensive catcher, who literally can't fucking catch a baseball.

What a fucking game.

Maybe now would be a good time for a pitcher who can throw a ball over the plate.

Yep - Chavez!

Get a DP.

I actually am a Contreras fan. I just KNOW he's better than this. Needs to play smarter.

They scored two unearned, one undeserved, and a 4th after two HBP.

I get why Bryant tried that, but getting the lead runner is a basic of baseball.

A lefty in the box and you are playing off third. This Cubs team is super smart baseball players. Thats wasnt one of them.

It doesn't matter. The game didn't end because he missed that call. The cubs still had the lead. Edwards still had a chance to get out of it and didn't make the pitches he needed to make. Plain and simple. Then cishek comes in and does the same. You can put it on the ump if you want, but the players can't allow it to affect them. The last two innings were completely uncharacteristic of this team.

Huh?

With a lefty, you should be closer to 3rd? If he was, it's a base hit.
