Lovie needs to be replaced. Defense is supposedly his thing and the Illini can't stop anyone

As long as we have Illini fans like Parade who are willing to accept these results, Lovie isn't going anywhere.

Louis Dorsey transferring. Great job by Smith here.
Dorsey is the fourth signee from the Class of 2017, Lovie Smith's first recruiting class to leave the program, joining Williams, Thomas and Howard Watkins (who was dismissed following an arrest on charges of residential burglary and aggravated robbery).

Lovie with tone deaf comments.
“You don’t expect guys to leave, but it happens,” Illinois coach Lovie Smith said on Tuesday morning. “Then you’re a former player, and we move on. Not a whole lot more to say besides that. He’s not with our program anymore.

We want players that want to be here. Our focus is on that. Divorce is good sometime.

THIS IS GOING GREAT. GREAT HIRE

NCAA recruitment isn't a draft. He doesn't get to recruit the players he wants immediately. They mostly go to better schools. He gets the best of what's left. As the program grows, the ability to recruit grows. Right now it's still about growing the program. The W-L record won't reflect the growth until year 5 or 6.

Two things here
1. Another poster said that the cost for Smith the first two years really doesn't matter because he's been essentially "free" due to the Bucs
2. Tough for Smith to build a program when he keeps kicking out his own recruits and they keep leaving.

Good chance for a win today. Wisconsin isn't that good. Hopefully catch them sleepwalking after a loss to Michigan
