Not as good as TC a this but there wasn't a topic so I made one. Saw something kind of interesting in reference to strop.... turns out La Stella didn't make the trip because he has a back issue. Might explain why maddon was hesitant to use him vs the nats.

I know objectively baez is an mvp caliber bat this year but i really don't have a ton of confidence when he's at bat with 2 on.

Not to excuse things but Corbin is pretty good. Him and Hendricks is a pretty good pitching duel. Cubs needed to get to him in the first with first and second with 1 out and Baez/Zobrist but they failed to come through. Top of the order is coming up. Hopefully they can make some noise.

What was that thing Baez hit? How come he gets to run around and touch all the bases? Is that a part of baseball?

The Cubs color guy predicted that HR by Bryant on the air....pretty funny. Kasper doing the HR call before he hit it.

Good to see from Bryant.

Great outing by Hendricks. Just outstanding. (And it may not be over.)

Magic number's 10. Up 2.5 games with 11 to play for MIL and 12 for the cubs? I think this one is over barring something pretty chaotic. MIL's got 5 of 11 at home and 6 on the road. Cubs have 7 of 12 at home with 5 more on the road 3 of which are at the sox so pseudo home. Realistically I think the cub stake like 7 or 8 of those 12. 7 wins gives them 94 wins. 8 would give them 95. For MIL to tie 94 wins they need to go 8-3 or 9-2 to tie 95.

Beating Corbin really changes the outlook for this series. Hopefully the Cubs can sweep and while the Brewers stumble, and then they'll really knock some games off the magic number.

one can argue after seeing last night that their road games are done. That was wrigley west and now fans that cannot afford tickets to wrigley can see them on the south side.

beckdawg, thanks for making the thread. Yesterday was nuts and it was game time before I remembered.

Solid win. If the Cubs go 7-5 they get 95 wins. The Brewers would have to go 9-2 to tie.
