Why can't Mitch be the next Alex Smith, Steve Young or Troy Aikman?

The first two seasons of their careers, this is their TD/INT ratio

Alex Smith: first year: 1 TD 11 INT, second year: 16 TD 16 INT
Steve Young first year: 3 TD 8 INT, second year: 8 TD 13 INT
Troy Aikman first year: 9 TD 18 INT, second year: 11 TD's, 18 INT

All of these great quarterbacks would've been declared a bust and run out of town before finishing their second season in this city. This is why we can't have nice things. All of these QB's had to DEVELOP. Yes, Chicago, there is such a thing as developing a quarterback. Let's try it. We drafted the kid, he had a high physical ceiling, he's not lighting the world on fire yet, but neither did any of the aforementioned three guys who turned out to be pretty good.

Can't really compare them. They were all on teams that were complete and total dumpster fires at just about every position on both sides of the ball.

Bears are not. He has a supporting cast around him. Those teams were waiting to get competence around the QB, the Bears are waiting for the QB to grow

Well Tampa wasnt waiting for anything they were the biggest hopeless shit show going for about 2 decades

To me, developing means you see some type of progress. Just am not seeing any this season so far, and that is cause for concern. So many of those misses were just flat our poor throws yesterday. I am ok with him not seeing every open WR and throwing late at this point...but badly missing wide open receivers? There's no way to spin that as a positive...

Oh...and stats don't tell the whole story.

You tellin me we traded up for the 2nd pick in the draft for the next fucking Alex Smith?

This dude is the absolute worst starting Q.B in the NFL. He’s literally made less plays than Craig Krenzel when he was playing

Because they are outliners most of the QB's that struggle early don't work. Bringing up the 1 in who knows how many is a silly argument.

How many times will this be brought up?

Trubisky today is worse than Tim Tebow, Johnny Manziel, and Matt Barkley.

Trubisky can be good.

At this moment he is not good and he has not really shown signs of making serious steps forward.'

Until we see some of these positive steps this is reality and the Trubisky haters have all the ammunition they need. The Trubisky defenders are left chucking their helmets and canteens at the enemy.

The supporting casts doesn't really matter if he's not comfortable with the game speed or how fast NFL defenses are.

Yes Trubisky can be good, but as of now he isnt. People are frustrated now because other QB's are showing promise and he isn't. Another reason why people are upset is because this team is built to win now. We have a dominating defense and great pieces on offense but our QB is bad

There’s absolutely no defense for his play.

However, we are going to deal with this week after week. You can’t really objectively ‘measure’ progress with some things. For example, he looked like dog shit yesterday but I didn’t see him leaving the pocket and taking off running too much like he had week 1. That’s progress in one category though his accuracy was shit.

It’s gonna be a year long process for trubisky. It’s not a week to week process............. if he comes out next week and throws 3 TD’s that wouldn’t make him a franchise QB. Analyze the offense every week of course but why not just wait for 8 weeks and compare the first quarter of his play to the 2nd quarter?

It’s crazy how this team is built to win now considering last year they were ‘the browns of the NFC.’

He can potentially be them. He can potentially be tom brady and aaron rodgers combined into one player. fuck, anything is possible.

However, he is not them until he is them. people are concerned with what he is right now and what he will be next week. most people spent enough time on the Cutler potential train to understand what you might be in 2 years is not nearly as relevant as what you are right now.

This, the whole bullshit “work in progress” smart bears fans know it just line the coaches/players use. Trubisky looks like a 4th round project! I believe Andy Reid could develop Mitch. Not looking good for Shaggy Nagy so far.

Did you just call Alex Smith a great quarterback?

We just went all in on Mack bro. We don't have time to babysit a shit QB who can't make basic NFL throws. If Trubs doesn't improve then put his ass on the bench and he can go the Rodgers route. Get someone in there that can at least be decent.

What team were you watching last year? I saw a complete and total dumpster fire on offense.
You think some FAs at WR are going to instantly fix that in year 2?
You think cutting talent on oline and replacing it with a 2nd round draft pick that can't see the field with this coaching staff made them better? If you think this oline is doing good I think you're confused about what team wears what colors. Ours is the oline making every other team look like they have Mack. Their oline is the one not allowing Mack to come in untouched every down.

We picked an instant great defense over an instant great offense. You generally can't have both. If the offense as it is works into being great look out. Bears will be a major force. If not we will be like Lovie's Bears. Which is not a totally bad place if Trubisky is in the least bit competent.

I think his best comp is alex smith....and thats not a bad thing if he's got this defene behind him.

Problem is we need mitch to be the alex smith from years 5-6 to current alex smith RIGHT NOW vs the early days alex smith.

The defense is super bowl ready if healthy.
The offense is well behind and the biggest drain is the inaccuracy, poor decisions and lack of immediate improvement from the qb
