I admit I do not follow hockey or the Blackhawks much since the Bobby Hull, Stan Makita days but I am befuddled by Corey Crawford. I know that he left the team towards the end of the season with "concussion" symptoms. But now the new season is ready to go and he still has these same symptoms? Hasn't it been like 4 or 5 months? I really don't understand how that can be so I thought I would ask the CCS Blackhawk faithful.

He hasn't played since last December. I wouldn't be shocked if he never plays again, and that's probably best for his long-term health. It sucks for the team and us fans but...

How long did Crosby sit out, wasn't it the end of the season he was concussed, then an entire season and he returned during the following season. I was surprised he came back.

Short explanation is all mammals have 3 little stones in the ear canal. Nobody really knows what they do other than create vertigo when they are not in the correct place. My wife takes Meclazine for the problem, might not be a legal substance for pro sports. There are exercises you do, lie down with your head at a 45 degree angle and twist the head to the opposite side, then roll over to try to get the little stones back in the gel they belong.

Consider a goalie that has to move his head on a swivel with any dizziness, he would probably be puking all over the ice..

Jim Edmunds, the angel, cardinal and cub center fielder had this and it ended his career.

Its not just the concussion, its after effects. Toews has never been the same since his 5 concussions.

Toews has never been the same since he signed that albatross of a contract***

Fixed.

I kind of think Crawfords 6 million on LTIR is more value to this team right now.

Unless they use it to bring in a defenseman or 2 that can *actually* play defense...otherwise it just depends on how he comes back. He could come back at his career average. He could come back without missing a step, and he could come back as a below-average goalie like Ward or Forsberg. We don't know until he does hit the ice...and no rush there.

I'm glad to see Crow back at practice, but I dont want to see him rushed into action. Guy still has a life outside of hockey, and I hate to see that impacted.

My only problem with it is that they obviously know what's going on, I wish they would have at least been more upfront or given a better timetable than just letting all the speculation run rampant.

Crawford not being dead gives me a small dose of optimism for the season.

Best case scenario for the Hawks is that Crawford shows he is healthy and plays well. Hawks trade him in the offseason with only 1 year left on his contract. Even a healthy and dominant Crawford will only carry the Hawks to an 8th seed and elimination in the 1st round in the playoffs. That's simply a worse case scenario for the franchise that needs to start thinking draft lottery more frequently to try to add game-changing talent to the roster.

LTIR doesn't matter when the Hawks have about 9 million in cap space. You use up available cap room first. I guess with Murphy injured the Hawks will possibly claim a small LTIR exemption but it's not like Stan will do anything with it.

He still has a L-NTC on his NMC. That complicates matters even if he is at 100%. You'd still need to find a match in his 10-teams or he'd have to waive. Even if he was more willing to waive you'd have to think this injury would sour any team wanting to acquire him.

I still think if Crawford is moved while healthy it's at next season's TDL.

IMHO the best scenario for the 'hawks at this point is an amnesty buyout or two for the skater core. Start weeding the nonproductive guys out.

If Crow were to show some form, what do you think the prospects would be of unleashing him to Toronto from their end and our end around the trade deadline?

He might not be able to save us, but I kinda think goalie is the missing piece for that club right now. They have speed, youth, size, and now firepower...but they hemorrhage way too many goals a game.

Maple Leafs need better Defence. That seems to where they are need help at least 1 if not 2. I keep Crow only has this year and next remaining. We have some interesting pieces at Goalie in the pipeline in Nalimov, Delia, and Wouters.
