I was in favor of extending McCown for a reasonable amount for 3-ish years. Then drafting the heir apparent and letting them sit for a year or 2.

I liked Bridgewater/Carr/Jimmy G in 2014, really only Mariota in 2015.

Extend Cutler but not for top dollar. Always draft QBs with a real chance at starting. We could've got Geno Smith instead of Long or Mike Glennon instead of Bostic or Barkley somehow.

I haven't been "on the side" of a Bears QB ever in my life. They all suck, and I admit it when it's happening. The worst was when people vehemently argued Grossman/Orton. Are you fucking kidding me? They both sucked. I quit posting on that particular board it got so bad.

McCown in 2013 13 TD's 1 Int. 66.5% everybody loved the guy, rightfully so.

McCown 2014 in Tampa 11TD's 13 Int. 56.3%

Cutler in 2014 28 TD's 18 Int. 66%

I wanted Cutler, I was very late off the Jay bandwagon, not the last, there is still at least one guy hanging on, but I was embarrassingly late.

Rode the Jay train... missed my stop by a couple years.
I always have to much optimism for Bears QBs.... still do with Mitch.

Some kind of curse.

So we go without a QB?

After watching the Rams Vicking game last night I realized how far away the Bears are.

I accept Mitch right now but I'm highly skeptical. My gut feeling is he'll lose most of the fan base by the end of the year. If he keeps playing at the current level, the defense can carry him. But if we just miss the playoffs or get eliminated in the 1st round, it will be because of an anemic offense, and he'll lose 60-70% of the fan base.

I think with modestly talented QBs it can often be about fits, and I thought McCown ran Trestman's offense very efficiently. It just seemed to fit him. I doubt he'd have repeated the near league best numbers of 2013, but I thought it logical to keep him not just as a competent starter for a year or two, but a more willing and stable mentor for the QB I've wanted to draft since the end of the 2010 season.

I'm intrigued, who? Please don't tell me you were all in on Watson way back in 2010.

He wanted to redraft Jay. Me and Bearmick used to be in a relationship and it whenever he bad mouthed Jay, it really weakened our relationship. In private, he would praise him, presumably for sex. You cannot trust him.

Sorry, confusing wording on my part. I mean to say I wanted them to draft their own QB since the end of 2010, when I lost belief that Cutler was the answer. I wasn't referring to a specific QB. I thought McCown would have been a good guy for that QB to sit behind if they weren't immediately ready to start.
