Bears have played disciplined football. Outside of Hicks yesterday, they have not been committing many dumb penalties. They have 23 penalties for 174 yards, which is even more impressive considering how soft the NFL has become. Although ferocious, the defense has been careful while attacking opponent QBs. This is a huge improvement over years past, and IMO is a great reflection of Coach Nagy.

Discuss.

Creating turnovers, limiting offensive turnovers, great defense, no injury rash, minimal penalties. That’s winning football!

Guess the new rules aren't preventing teams from playing quality defense after all...

I really did expect a lot more pre snap offensive issues to start this year. It's hard enough when n yoy just have a new HC. But a new HC who is also focused on calling plays? It shows Nagy's attention to detail, as well as the quality of his staff...

Biggest thing going from Fox to Nagy is definitely the lack of pre-snap penalties on O. No more starting 1st and 20 on nearly every other drive and the remaining drives starting 1st and 15 because of stupid false snap penalties or terrible ST penalties that force the O into awful field position.

Also, only 2 holding penalties all season (lowest in the league), so awesome job by the O-Line. 5 false starts (12th, averaging 1.25 per game vs. 1.15 league average).

Another big one I noticed is that even though Nagy's offense looks like they have a lot of moving pieces with all the motions, the Bears have been able to do a decent job preventing things like illegal formation and shifts, with only 2 illegal formation penalties total though that puts them tied for 2nd (sample size is too small really and only 32 total called for the season for the entire league). Given that it's still a new O, thought they're doing pretty well on that front, or at least better than expected.
