A young Spartan had just advanced to Hoplite, and was assigned to his first Phyle. Upon reporting, another Hoplite showed him around the camp.
After the tour, the youth asked that since they were out in the countryside, where could he find a woman. The senior took the youth down to the river, and pointed to a barrel on the shore, that had an open bunghole. He said “that will be your woman now. If open, you’re free to use it on your down time as much as you like. Except on Wednesdays”.
Later that afternoon, the youngster went down to the barrel, and began porking the bunghole. He was surprised to find the hole wet and warm.
After he finished, he returned to camp, and told the veteran that the barrel was amazing.
He then asked “what’s so special about Wednesdays, why can’t I use it then?” The vet replied, “because that’s your day in the barrel”
