LaVine is legitimately playing at an All Star level. He would commanded a max contract if he was healthy last year. The Butler trade looks better every day.

If he can maintain the offensive efficiency, he can be a great primary scoring option. The lack of defense is going to put more pressure on him in crunch time because they'll have to supplant somebody else in the lineup as a stopper. I'm interested to see how he maintains the production once Lauri gets back.

LaVine is a steal. Fred? Not so much.

The league's primary focus is shifting away from defense -- what defensive stopper is getting big money? Lavine was an overpay, but you can justify $20M a season if he's putting up 25 a night

Forget the current trend because that will reverse course as soon as Golden State's reign ends.

Personally I don't really care about LaVine or anyone on the roster for that matter because they are terrible overall and will continue to be a for a few years.

I responded to the OP where max contract and Zach were mentioned same sentence, LOL.

He's an injured, volume-scorer, and is just putrid on D. His ultimate slotting is on a contender as the 6th man, coming in for 2nd unit instant office a la Vinnie "Microwave" Johnson back in the day.

Have you seen his shooting percentages? LaVine is shooting 62% and 45% from 3 point range. Beyond efficient. 34 points on 15 shots? MJ would struggle to top that.

Please consider SAMPLE SIZE, and he should not be mentioned in the same sentence as MJ.

Career: 44% field, 37.5% 3 point. And he played a whopping 71 games over the prior 2 seasons combined.

If you want to be a mega-fan that's cool, but he's just not really nearly as great as you may perceive.

Lavine has had a hot start to the year. You know who else has had a hot start? Niko Mirotic.

Those percentages are still good. You are judging from last year. He is taking the leap.

No, I'm not. When i cited "career", i meant all his NBA games, not only 2017. What leap is he going to take - stay healthy? Play D? It's not in his DNA.

Only the dumbest of the dumb (Kings, Bulls) were foolish enough to give this guy $78 million.

In the absence of any facts to support your assertions we can conclude this is merely a fanboy thread. And if you wan to be his hugest fan, bless you, but don't hold your breath trying to convince anyone else.

LaVine doesn't bother me. SGs in this league barely play defense (most that are attributed with defense merely are creedited with their steal statistics or +/-, which is a trash method when the team is fucked.). He's doing what he's supposed to do. Now he just needs a defensive specialist to split roles with on the wings. Everyone hopes that will be Dunn, but the fact is the Bulls need someone else to make-up the completion enough to simply compete with big guns once the giants die off a bit, let alone become a big gun... just whoa buddy, that's not happening with just some health and a few moves, that requires a game changer.

If he stays healthy he will be an All Star. The talent and drive is there.

I hope so, right now his contract has negative value and is therefore not an asset. We could use a trade-able asset or two.

The league hasn't put a premium on defense for quite some time, Golden State's sustained success notwithstanding. Did you not see the part where I agreed with you that he's overpaid? He isn't a max-level player. But there's a cap casualty on every developing team. Paying both LaVine and Parker $20M this year to essentially do the same thing is foolish, but look who runs the team.

It goes back to a team identifying what they perceive as a core player and locking them in place. Letting LaVine walk after being a cornerstone in the Butler trade would be stupid. We already know what Dunn's ceiling will be -- a pesky defender who is competent at facilitating an offense and will occasionally offer complementary scoring. Lauri's ceiling is relatively unknown. If he develops some level of defensive acumen, he can be an outstanding player. Nobody on the current roster is what I would consider a franchise cornerstone, so the hope is they can be awful again (which doesn't seem like a stretch) and grab another high lottery pick.

Even Jimmy was a steal at 20 million 4 years ago, so yes, with the upper class max deal players averaging 34-40 million, yeah, he is a steal.

Lavine was a good two way player before, he can get back there.

Nike continued to play well for NO last year and that's carried over into this season.

He looks good. Not sure if i would call him a steal. I still dont think the ceiling is high with him. In fact I would say this is the ceiling. Not a bad ceiling but definitely not superstar level.
