-IT isn't worth a max deal. I'd rather invest in Kyrie long term than IT.
-Crowder is expendable. Teams could have had him for free a few months ago and nobody bit.

If the Brooklyn pick goes #1 then Boston overpaid but i don't hate the trade for them. Cavs got the best possible package they could have for Kyrie.

Am I the only one mad that we couldn't pry that Brooklyn pick away from Boston for Butler, but Cleveland got that and more for Irving?

Like, fuck the Irving vs Thomas comparison. Butler >>> both of those two.

Boston turned down a worse deal with Chicago for IT. I'm steamed. If Boston thinks Irving takes them over the edge, then what would Butler have done?

I don't think Boston was sold on Thomas but if they traded for Butler they would have to be. Not only that but if they traded for Butler they don't get Hayward...i'll take Kyrie+Hayward over Thomas+Butler.

The Butler thing is a hindsight argument anyways.

If Boston beat the Cavs, went to the finals, IT wouldn't have been traded. Without actually testing the team and going through the gut checks, a person is simply playing videogame style management. Sometimes what looks good on paper will fail in practice. Hah, well, more often than not I would say.

I can see where Ainge is coming from. Maybe not sure if Kyrie is the answer, but who knows. Stevens is one of my favorite coaches in the NBA, he is at least good enough to make these new pieces better than they normally would have been under the average NBA coach.

IT is arguably the worst defender in the NBA. So if you make it to the finals and play the Warriors. That's a difference of Steph being a 42/12/5 performer and a 28/8/4 performer. I think the Celtics are booking on that logic to justify this trade. They hope Kyrie can do more than microwave. The real question, is Kyrie going to be a diva now, or is he going to grow up enough to be that player. After all, Kyrie did learn from the biggest diva in NBA history.

Dont you think Kyrie was growing to be that player before LeBron went back?

Cavs without Lebron were going to be Kyrie, Waiters, Wiggins. The Bennett deal, big miss, but that was a terrible draft year, so just say Kyrie, Waiters, Wiggins, still be bad and either get Towns, Okafor or Porzingis.

Leroy went home and they started gutting the roster and getting him more max guys.

Kyrie in Cleveland was a bad situation period. The fanbase, the city, just a shitshow. Hard to grow for any rookie who essentially was supposed to fill in the gap for LeBron and live in constant reminders of the past. Not many players in the history of the NBA have been able to come in, and without help, be the face of a team and lead them to a winning record(not CF or even Finals, that needs help or a special designed team). Rookie Jordan was on a 38 win playoff team, and LeBron was on a 35 win lottery team. Not a GOAT comparison stat, just showing how hard it is to go from the bottom to the playoffs in one season with a rookie star. *Iverson 22 Wins. Rookie Kyrie = 21 wins. Not everyone can do what Larry Legend did, especially post-merger.

I'm not a Kyrie fan. Kind of would like to see him fail to be honest. But if I wanted to be fair, I can see his side of the story too. Don't need to like the player, but I can sympathize a bit with his shortcomings and think Boston might actually be better as a playoff team with him than IT. Regular season, maybe not. Jae was a great glue guy, so that needs to be factored in too, just too many new faces to instantly click and have chemistry.

The change of scenery and new layer in the LeBron rivalry will be good for the league. More people will tune in to see the first Cavs vs Celts game, than Cavs vs Warriors. *barring key injuries, of course.

The Celtics completely fucked up. Kyrie and Heyward don't compliment each other on the same level at all, they are both ball in the hand offensive players. Horford might be the best passer on the team, and is getting old, frequently injured. They aren't even a playoff team yet with 4 returning players, they lost a ton of efficient perimeter shooting and traded high IQ and tough players for softer defenders. What is their big man plan? It looks like Baynes, Morris, Horford and a ton of small ball.

I don't see how they can stop NBA teams. They are going to hemmorage 110 points per game easy.

In my opinion they only make the playoffs because they have the best young coach in NBA. Hoiberg could not make the playoffs with that team.

Tilman J. Fertitta reaches agreement to buy the Houston Rockets. They now await formalities by the board. Fertitta owns Landry's, a seafood restaurant and Casino tycoon, which is how he was able to get the winning $2.2b for purchase.

Olajuwon also put an investment group together and put in a bid, but that was eventually rejected.

Thinking about the Boston- Cleveland trade. I think Boston is getting the short side from people. I think Boston may have played this smart. Kyrie and Heywars fit a timeline within the next 3 years for the Celtics to go for it. Warriors should be coming out of their dominance. Lebron would probably be teamed up somewhere. A core of Heyward, Irving, Tatum, Brown, and they still have high draft picks. They could be building the next champion.

Idk but the West is gonna be stoopid. I mean, the Warriors will still probably go to the finals, but...stoopid.
